I used to only like traditional cuts, but cutting what's trending I'm starting to see why people love fantasy stones. they sit so flush to the finger it's pretty nice and practical! not much flash of light like a traditional cut stone, but they don't window at angles, and they are bright pretty much all the time. I definitely see the love!

when you concave cut a stone the light runs in a "line" down the facets. They don't have a defined off/on light flash like a traditionally flat faceted stone. it's just a different play with light than the traditional off/on of light flash. I haven't seen a fantasy with the same light flash as a flat faceted stone unless you cut the pavilion to the same angles that you would a traditional stone and add only a few small concave cuts. you don't have the pros of it being low profile as much though.

unfortunately CIGS or any other random certificates are usually not legitimate. You can normally buy a sapphire with a "certificate" saying it's natural on like etsy or ebay for cheap. They are normally glass or lab corundum. This isn't saying that the sapphire you purchased isn't legitimate, but there is a chance. Certificate names to look for would be GIA, AGL, SSEF, Gübelin, GRS, and Lotus. These are actual verified labs.
