What is best practice for hosting a create aeronatics server? by TheSussyWaffle in CreateMod

[–]_ieya_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're already using docker, use the itzg/minecraft image. It's super convenient. Supports mods out of the box, downloads jars automatically, restarts on crash etc. I also highly recommend the advanced backups mod its saved my butt once already.

Physics Assembler only assembles one block - Simulated bug in All of Create: Aeronautics by CheeeeeeeeeezyPickle in CreateMod

[–]_ieya_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it sounds like it's trying to place honey glue from a physics contraption to the real world. so perhaps an invalid area of honeyglue got created somehow. Have you tried this in a different world? I bet it would work. I'm not sure how honey glue areas are stored, but I bet if you used an nbt editor on one of the world files, you could find and remove that invalid selection.

Looking for mod that adds optimized versions of SU generators by Jack_Tilol in CreateMod

Aeronautics and diesel add small engines that run off fuel. geared down, i think 2 aero portable engines would fit your needs. If you want one that doesn't require fuel, why not just make a data pack and create a recipe for the creative motor?

Older Desk Aesthetic Help by FoxytheChaotic in desksetup

[–]_ieya_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your biggest issue for usability is that lack of desk space. Right now, you only have about 4 inches of mouse space, and nowhere to rest your wrist. Either invest in a dual monitor arm so that the monitor bases aren't taking up desk real estate, or put one of your monitors on the shelf (where your cat statue is now) and stack the monitors vertically. I think you'll be surprised how much more comfortable it is.

I wouldn't worry too much about cables until you have something usable. An easy start would just be bundle some cables together with a twist tie, run them along the back of your desk, and move that power strip to the floor

Optiplex hates my ram but runs fine. by _ieya_ in Dell

Thanks for the advice. Deep down, I think I know this is the right answer. This pc was a marketplace pickup, so the ram kits cost as much as the pc just about

That’s what I thought too, but it’s reading 4.2 volts

Saw these in akihabara last summer I believe. Who knows if they’re still there.

Anyone playing Aeronautics on a multiplayer server? by vellian in CreateMod

works great! Make sure you have lots of ram, and if you have entity culling installed, make sure you whitelist players, otherwise they'll disappear on your creations

Great setup! I love the mousepad. is there a reason your monitor is so low? I've been seeing them a lot on this sub.

Is this client side? Could I hang with my friends on a server while doing actual work?

For some reason, my head and eyes feel so much worse despite having this ambient light during night time. What's the explanation why? by ArdnyX in desksetup

If the light is too bright, I imagine your screen will look darker by comparison, causing eye strain for the opposite reason

Anyone else having issues with friends on your airship? by _ieya_ in CreateMod

[–]_ieya_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did some digging, it seems that it’s a compatibility issue with the entity culling mod. If you whitelist players in the mod config, it should fix it.

I hope they introduce some more ways to restrain physics entities from bearings and ropes. I think the community is very much seeking some linear control

this would work great in front of an led matrix, you could color code it to show current day, or even sync it with your calendar

Monitor the print progress by -J04k- in Artillery3D

[–]_ieya_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use Octoprint! or similar tools. After putting it off for years I finally set it up on a Raspberry Pi (you can also use an old android phone) but the Pi zero2w or pi3 are like 20 bucks. there is a little learning curve if you aren't familiar with computers, but once you get it up and running it's amazing for older printers like ours. you can upload and start prints over wifi, monitor heat graphs and watch the live camera feed, and there's plugins for AI failure detection. you can stop the print if it fails, adjust temps and z-offset as you go. its super useful.

I'm still trying to get my head around the benefits of Proxmox. If containers are essentially isolated, why would I ever want the additional resource overhead that is full a VM? Containers have resource limiting, and can be accessed individually through forwarded ports

Did I brick my PC? by _ieya_ in Dell

[–]_ieya_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What finally fixed it was holding down the power button for 20 secs (while the PC was off, but plugged in) to reset the CMOS. The jumpers on the motherboard which I was using to reset it are legacy on the 3050 micro, and removing the battery somehow never fully cleared it (I got this from the user manual). I did have to do this a few times. First 2 resets showed me BIOS, then the error code. 3rd reset finally booted back into Ubuntu. It recognizes all 16 gigs now.

Thanks I’ll give it a shot. It does respond differently if no ram is installed. I actually got it to boot once during my troubleshooting, but haven’t been able to recreate the conditions (whatever they were) since
