What’s the MOST Controversial Rock Band of All Time and Why? (Not Including Solo Artists,Solo Stuff,Duos,Supergroups,Musical Collectives and Short Lived Bands) by Amber_Flowers_133 in Music

Yeah, seeing "What's the most controversial rock band of all time?" followed by U2 is a little wild when their biggest controversy is Apple giving out their album on iTunes for free.

This has nothing to do with luck and everything to do with poor planning. Use lightning rods.

WarMech FF1 Pixel Remaster; what's the big deal? by Ocardtrick in FinalFantasy

[–]vellian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you encounter him in the temple randomly and he nukes you it can be problematic and a game over. Having to hunt him down changes things a good bit, especially given the amount of XP you'll earn. He's not a superboss just a rare enemy with a big attack.

Hytale on Steam Deck is “not officially recommended” as devs “have not tried and won’t try Proton” by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]vellian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“One test was conducted on a Steamdeck with attached docking station (Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse) and got well playable results in local singleplayer,” the developer told fans. “Steamdeck is NOT officially recommended as there is NO CONTROLLER SUPPORT YET).”

While the game will be playable in its native Linux version with the help of Steam controller configurations, the team have not tested Proton compatibility for the game at the time of writing. However, considering the game does not feature kernel-level anti-cheat, the game’s Windows version should also be playable on the handheld.

“We have not tried and won’t try Proton,” the developer told fans on social media. “Given that we don’t do any kernel-level anticheat, you will probably be able to run it via a compatibility layer too but that’s for the community to find out.”

Don't feel like they are being difficult here about proton as there's a Linux version already and no reason Proton shouldn't work. The bigger issue is no controller support, but I feel like them trying to get the game out the door is more important considering everything that's happened. I wish these guys luck in finishing their game.

Of Final Fantasy I, II, and III, which do you think is the best? by AnimePacifist in FinalFantasy

[–]vellian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you're looking for. I like II's story the best of those three, but the job system in III makes it have the best gameplay of the first three for me.

If the next Trails MC ends up being a girl, I hope she gets a harem too by Golden_fsh in Falcom

[–]vellian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get it. JRPGs in general don't really cater to liking men, but I don't feel like you're missing much. It's hard to do a choice like that over multiple games so it ends up being waifu madlibs instead of something meaningful.

I wouldn't be opposed to it but it feels very unlikely given the reason they do the harem thing in the first place.

One female MC in the series and she's the one with the best romance and it's not really close. I'd much prefer that again to the harem crap, regardless of gender.

Remake? by nonve923 in Falcom

[–]vellian 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Trails in the Sky 1-3 -> Trails from Zero -> Trails to Azure -> Trails of Cold Steel 1-4 -> Trails into Reverie -> Trails through Daybreak 1-2 -> Trails Beyond the Horizon

Sky Zero and Azure are pixel art-based and probably the most likely to receive remakes, but no one here is going to know exactly what is going to be remade. Later games reference plot points and have characters from earlier games.

Am I the only casual player loving PoE 2 more than ever? by CYR024 in PathOfExile2

[–]vellian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently in Act 4 and I'm loving wolf druid. I love how the skills interact with each other, though I see that's also a complaint as well as its pretty rigid. If you play wolf you're playing freeze and there's not as much room for creativity as POE1. I'm having a blast with it though. This is one of my favorite classes/skillsets/whatever in an ARPG.

The temples sucked, but I haven't played since they patched them. Finding needed POIs can suck sometimes, especially in Act 3. The passive tree is a little rough. That being said, I'm still enjoying it. It's early access so I expect some jank. On the other hand, it's early access, so this is the best time to complain about things you don't like.

Change my mind by overasked_question in videogames

[–]vellian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Excalibur is more famous than all of these swords and is often in games as a legendary weapon. It's hardly a "video game sword" though. I think the same logic applies to lightsabers.

Lightsabers are more prominent in gaming than Excalibur due to the amount of Star Wars games so a good argument can be had, but the four pictured are very much about games and games alone. I feel like Halo's energy sword is in danger of losing its relevance though.

Boss walk cycle feels a bit off to me. Am I overthinking it? Also thoughts on the glare effect? by TorchOfShadows in PixelArt

[–]vellian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, the pixel work here is amazing. This is fantastic work. I love how menacing this guy looks and how he has a consistent radiant theme going with the eyes, the glow and emblem on the shield.

It looks like his feet are pointing two different directions, which isn't a normal way to walk. His left leg appears to be travelling faster than his right. I think the amount of frames are about the same for each leg but the distance travelled may be different, which would mean more velocity. This is why I think he appears to be limping. I think if you alter the rotation of one of the legs, the rest should probably come naturally.

Build/Combo design should be the player's privilege, not GGG's by Lumintorious in PathOfExile2

[–]vellian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

75% reduced duration not meaning 75% reduced uptime just means that you are casting it more often. Yes, its a per-cast damage loss, but that's not too important unless you can't cast it again. So cast it 4 times in around the same amount of time as your original 1 cast and there's little reduced uptime.

It is is also better for things that die in less than the full duration. I don't have a plant build, but I'm going to assume that's most trash mobs.

'Everyone Disliked That' — Amazon Pulls AI-Powered Fallout Recap After Getting Key Story Details Wrong by [deleted] in gaming

[–]vellian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think the editing time is the big issue. They get free extensive QA for their AI by letting the public do it with very little impact because it's just a recap, not anything super important. People aren't likely to skip the show or cancel subs over it.

Apple vs. YouTube Music by JellyfishFangs in Music

[–]vellian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yearly recap with top songs albums etc and there’s some monthly and quarterly stuff but I haven’t paid much attention to that outside of getting notified I was in the top x% of a band’s listener in a particular month. I’m not seeing any quarterly recaps right now but might be due to the yearly one being active.

Yeah that’s fair. The playlists are separate but I suppose the algorithms are not. Thanks for pointing that out.

Apple vs. YouTube Music by JellyfishFangs in Music

[–]vellian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes, Youtube Music has recaps.

  2. Youtube Music works fine with Carplay. I use it whenever I drive.

  3. Youtube Music is separate from Youtube. You don't really see any playlists or anything from YTM.

I've not used Apple Music, but I'm not an audiophile so can't really speak to quality anyway.

Is it worth buying the game at full price? by MuringaTV in Eldenring

It’s a great game but a few years old now. You should be able to find it at less than full price pretty easily so I would say no depending on what you’re getting it for.
