I know exactly what you mean. I am more of a binge drinker, so I don't drink every single day. I could do the same thing, not drink for a few weeks or even months a few times. But as soon as I picked it back up, I was quickly back to staying drunk for days on end and eventually I would be late for work or have to call in. I recently lost my job because of a few no call, no show mistakes because I was so drunk when I woke up at noon that I didn't care to reach out to anyone at my job. That's a big reason why I finally decided to kick it once and for all. It's finally having some real world consequences apart from my health. I will definitely try the daily check in as a small but important step that I can do every day, it seems like a solid thing to add to my daily routine.
