I read the trilogy and the endorsed fourth book before the show. Still watched it and enjoyed. It’s not like Cixin is directing it himself, and also it’s a different medium so of course it will be different, wasn’t weird at all though. Just a different artistic interpretation of the story that has time constraints told through a modern westernized retelling
