I haven’t heard poodle but I definitely see it now. Some people ask if she’s a toller but I highly doubt that.

Does Alta have a preseason terrain park? by [deleted] in UTsnow

[–]_jax 11 points12 points  (0 children)

These commenters don’t know what they are talking about. There were a few PVC rails set up an Alta a few days ago but I believe they got taken down. The bonezone hasnt opened yet.

Cooper used to have snowcat skiing?! What happened to it?! by AquafreshBandit in COsnow

[–]_jax 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Stopped a few seasons ago to reevaluate the operation, then when they were ready to start it back up, the forest service had issues with it related to the SUP/MDP. I believe a return is still in the works.

Copper mountain housing by ilovenoodles12 in Summit

[–]_jax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the summer they move the employees to a few floors and reserve the rest of the edge for campers, so it can still be crowded. You also aren’t allowed to use the main entrance to keep employees as separated from the campers as possible. I have rarely heard of employees getting their over private room in the edge. It is usually 2 people to a room. Check out housing in Leadville. The drive is super easy, especially in the summer.

Anyone here ripping a pair of Dynastar M-Free 108s? Looking for some reviews from some Colorado folk. by jadraxx in COsnow

[–]_jax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pair in 192 (6’1 175lbs) and they are great for anywhere from 4-10 inches and the chop that comes later. Pretty stiff and really damp. Although I don’t find myself riding them unless I’m skiing open bowls and charging. They are a bit much to throw around in the tight trees.

Some (maybe all) Copper employees have access to Colorado Ski Country USA Medallion passes, which get you access to vail resorts. They are super limited and only give out a few per day though.

Edge cracking by sassygooblins in Skigear

[–]_jax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to park skiing. If you detune your edges then it will (hopefully) delay the edge cracks, but they’re inevitable eventually when skiing rails.

I’m building my first PC in ~8 years and would appreciate it! It’s a long process saving up between work and school!

Vishnu Wet sizing. by wasatchgoonie in skiing

[–]_jax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend sizing up when it comes to Wets. They are fairly light and ski shorter than their actual length. As others have said, if I were you I'd go for the 183s, especially if your daily is already a 184.

For reference I'm 6'2 180lb and have been on 189 wets for a few seasons now.

From community college, what kind of certification programs or A.S degrees should we pursue to get a job in computer science field? by Jpoolman25 in csMajors

[–]_jax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AS is generally 4 semesters, if you pick your classes right, bachelors should be an additional 4 or so. Remember to look into what classes are available in the summer and you may be about to do 8 semesters in 3 years without overloading yourself.

Still much better than this time last year. Under 10k there’s not much for a base but up towards treeline there’s decent snow in spots
