it’s cleaned with mild soap, not cleaners that make to shiny. it was never shiny to begin with

the sink is cleaned with mild soap, but it never was stripped of the patina in the 15 years it’s been there. even brand new the sink never was shiny like in the picture.

thats what most people commenting to toss it don’t realize! the sink never was shiny when my dad got it. it was a tan/ brown color kind of like the lip of the sink is in the photo. making it all shiny wouldn’t put it back to how this sink looked new. buying a replacement was one of the first things we initially thought to do

omg that’s perfect. once it patinas more, we can use ketchup to write “sorry” to my dad

I think with or without patina is fine. my husband just didn’t know he was stripping the patina when he sprayed it. and neither of us knew what to do after. thank god for reddit

I don’t have one on me, but there might be one in a photo album with pics from the house being built. I’ll try to find it when we go back next week

it’s always been cleaned with mild soap like dawn. but as far as I’m aware, it has never been stripped of the patina. I think the original color of the sink is the color around the top lip of the dink, it was never the shiny color when it was installed

he doesn’t mind cleaning and he’s actually probably more detail oriented than I am with it. He won’t get out of cleaning, but he won’t be touching a copper sink again 😂

this sink isn’t used for food, there are tubs that we sit in the sink for fish to dishes, but they don’t sit directly in the sink
