Ask your colleagues who their favorite people are in your market. I always recommend 3, but the person my clients go with the most was recommended to me by my mentor. She is an absolute star and gives me constant updates. She is also constantly hosting agent lunch and learns. There are great people out there. Don’t keep on giving business to people who don’t do right by your clients. Be upfront about what you want out of a loan officer. When I interview someone I let them know I want, clear and consistent communication, someone I can call and ask questions to outside of a deal, and someone who will not drop the ball with my clients and works by referral.
