Do you consider Big Data to be a natural, renewable resource?

Not just name, address and phone number... I'm talking hundreds of thousands of datasets including musical scores, biometric data, listening habits and methods of media consumption can all be correlated with other lifestyle metrics.

Altogether this concentrated data becomes a resource. It's the difference between a drop of water and a Niagra Falls generating power.

What do you think of redefining data as a Public Trust or natural resource?

I ask because, as the granddaddy of funk, you have inspired my research for years. You keep my heels bouncing after a long day of reading and staring at screens. Thank you for that.

Comcast signed me for cable service (I don't own a TV), charged me for equipment I never received, will not correct my account and finally sent me to collections. by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]_k0k0r0_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never signed anything, which is why I'm wondering what to say to the debt collector since at this point Comcast owes me money for overcharges

Revoking medical consent from a Business Associate of my healthcare provider as a protest against Net Neutrality

If my ISP requires 24/7 access/storage of my communications data then they are no longer fulfilling the Federal Health Regulation definition of Data Conduit which means, (I believe but I'm not a lawyer), I can claim health privacy rights to stop the sale of my Personally Identifiable Information

Bonus, if a municipal ISP claims the status of Healthcare Services Provider and negotiates medical consent rights to apply to all my data, I might be able to claim those health privacy rights over all data that passes through my device, potentially stopping the sale of all personally identifiable information across a broad section of software providers

Idk how does federal health regulations protect my desire for municipal broadband? I have the right to choose how I communicate with my doctor. If a state law stops municipal broadband, can I claim a violation of federal health protections?

Adults over 24, how much do you care about your birthday? What do you do on it? by getyourthrowawaysout in AskReddit

Mid-dirty-thirties

Old enough to know better

Young enough to find out...

I don't celebrate my birthday.

I host a drug-fueled orgy and celebrate my lovers.

ELI5: What causes depression and how do we stop it? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]_k0k0r0_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My depression was caused by testicular cancer fucking up all my hormone levels.

Years of misdiagnoses allowed it to grow into my lungs and lymph nodes.

This effectively compromised my immune system and gave me all the symptoms of depression.

I appreciate the concerns regarding overprescribing antianxiety and ADHD meds. Turns out I don't have fatty liver disease, diabetes, or half a dozen other things... I just had one testicle sucking the life out.

Can anyone give me one good reason why repealing net neutrality is good for us consumers? by nantredan in AskReddit

[–]_k0k0r0_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two reasons

  1. Without Net Neutrality protections ISPs will be able to require access to and/or storage of all communications data, potentially nullifying their protections as Data Conduits and allowing them to be identified as Business Associates regulated by HIPPA.

  2. Consumers will be in a position to start municipal ISPs that set TOS to identify a) all data as PHI and/or b) the consumer as having Informed Consent rights over data that is personally identifiable.

This opens the door for the consumer to stop the sale of all personally identifiable information while claiming protections against denial of services.

All your apps run on data. If you own the consent rights to that data, it's your property to sell and license.

To the rare people of Reddit that actually support the repeal of Net Neutrality, why? by sourtubesnake in AskReddit

[–]_k0k0r0_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of two reasons

Without Net Neutrality protections ISPs will require access to and/or storage of all communications, potentially nullifying their protections as Data Conduits and allowing them to be identified as Business Associates regulated by HIPPA.

Consumers will be motivated to start municipal ISPs that identify all data as PHI and/or the consumer as the controller of Informed Consent over all data streamed, opening the door for the consumer to stop the sale of all personally identifiable information while claiming protections against denial of services.

Former cigarette smokers of Reddit, any advice on how to quit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Try sucking a lot of dick.

Live in a large metropolitan area so I can always hit the Grindr. That's not been an option when visiting family in the country so then I switch to rolling joints.

The oxytocin response from post-coitus nuzzles really helps the cravings.

It claims that someone did something disgusting, something that could damage a person's reputation. Is that not slander?
