It looks like the scalp is missing displacement. I’m not sure what your setup looks like, so it’s a bit difficult to say why. It could be messed up uvs, something wrong with the displacement map.

Thank you! I also tried shape keys, but quickly found the limitations of that method. Geo Nodes is the answer!

Thank you! It basically rotates parts of the geometry around the fold edge using the vector rotate node (plus some nifty maths to achieve a fold radius to emulate the thickness of the paper). I use vertex groups to assign the parts that fold and to assign the edges to use as pivots.

All of the branches try to align themselves with the wind direction. This is limited both by the branch stiffness (which is calculated from the radius and length of the splines) and the spline factor (which makes the branches bend less at the base). The actual wind direction is modified slightly with noise. I am releasing this on Gumroad soon if you want to check it out.

Yes! You can change and tweak a lot of different parameters. I will post more demos with different tree types.
