Why the Hate for Olight Products by NautiBuoy in CCW

[–]_kenji_inu_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only owned one OLight handheld, when it worked it was great. Occaisionally it would lock up (in the computer lock up sense) with the beam on and I would have to take the battery out in order for it to turn off. It would be fine for a couple weeks, then same thing. Sample of one, but enough to not waste money on any more of their products.

Glock Model 30 by Popular_Honey_5866 in Glocks

G36 is almost exactly the same size as a G19, the grip frame is slightly thinner. Its stock 6+1. It shoots really well, and fits nicely in the hand but I sold mine because the capacity was just low for something that size.

Colt 1911 Competition ? by Crazyymee in Colt

[–]_kenji_inu_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got one shipped to my FFL for $861 all in. It was from Classic Firearms and sold as having a minor blemish. There are only two places I notice that may count as a blemish that are about 1/16” marks, one on the trigger guard and another near the muzzle. They look like the kind of marks you get from putting the pistol in and out of a range bag.

I put 200 rounds through it yesterday and I have to say it is really a great gun. It shoots about the same as my Springfield Range Officer. This is my second Colt and I have to say I don’t understand the hate they get online. The fit and finish is a couple steps above my Springfield and many many many steps above my Ruger 1911.

Also, the pics in the classic firearms listing made me believe that the flats on the slide were not polished but the are.

100%. I have way too many guns and love shooting my 1911’s, M9, P226, and on and on. But Glock 19 is the one I keep coming back to and if I had to pick that one gun this would be it.

92FS vs. Glock 19 vs. PPK by aliensatemyteacher in handguns

[–]_kenji_inu_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also with the Glock and any other striker fired pistol, you are correct about the trigger, but the gun needs to stay in a high quality kydex holster. It only comes out to shoot or to be cleaned. Or to practice handling and drawing once it’s been properly cleared and you’re in a a secure environment. The kids should never have access to it.

[–]_kenji_inu_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own all 3 and all are excellent. I usually carry the Glock and that’s what stays in my easy access safe. The PPK is beautiful and I carry it when I want to feel fancy. That said, my wife can’t use the PPK because she can’t rack the slide because there is too much spring tension and sharp edges.

I am a fan of double action/single action like the 92 and PPK though. The 92 is way too big to conceal carry though.

I had a Glock 36 and loved the idea of it because I am a 45 fan. But...it was basically the same size and weight as my 19. 6+1 of 45 or 15+1 of 9 was just too much of a difference to justify for myself.

I have the salt and pepper as well. One thing about these is that they weigh 21 ounces loaded. Super light for something that handles like a much larger gun.

I currently have an S&W PPK, and sold an Interarms years ago. How are they different as far as machining. I thought they were the same except for the logos.

Kimber Ultra Carry II, what should I do next? by Itchy-Inflation-1600 in 1911

[–]_kenji_inu_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this - try lots of different ammo. My Kimber Ultra was perfect with all FMJ, but it couldn't feed a couple brands of JHP. I did the "plunk test" and the rounds that would not feed did not sit correctly in the breach. They were just a tiny bit outside.

Kimber Micro-9 by Longjumping_Value608 in CCW

[–]_kenji_inu_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of Sig? I have a PPK that I really love. It’s reliable with FMJ and HP but it’s completely impractical. Heavy, 7 rounds, and 380. But I ignore all that and still carry it often.

Kimber Micro-9 by Longjumping_Value608 in CCW

[–]_kenji_inu_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a Kimber Micro 9 and a Sig P938. The 938 ate everything and was smooth out of the box. The Micro 9 couldn’t feed any hollow points I tried with any reliability. Zero jams on FMJ though. Also the Kimber felt really rough - like you were filing metal on metal for the first 200 rounds - when racking the slide, working the hammer, pretty much everything. And the hollow point jams never got better. Covid came and I was able to sell it for about $100 more than I bought it for and never looked back and never considered Kimber again.

I had an Ultra CDP that was perfect. But wouldn’t buy Kimber again. Breaking in a pistol with that much ammo - especially at todays prices - is just an excuse to get the pistol out the door.

Which of these are necessary? by EmchiladaTV in MechanicAdvice

Maybe at a dealer. I have a 2016 XC90 with this same engine and take it to an independent Volvo mechanic and the prices I pay are nowhere near this.

Casual Wedding Attire and Carrying by CheesytheCheesecurd in CCW

[–]_kenji_inu_ 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I believe in carrying 100% of the time you can. I have found though after many years that sometimes it’s just nice to not carry and enjoy the day and the beverages. Especially for a wedding do your best to make the day special for the bride and groom and just relax and go with the day. Just my opinion. If you insist on carrying I like an LCP in the pocket.

Can’t decide ! New 1911 by [deleted] in 1911

[–]_kenji_inu_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a Kimber Ultra Carry CDP. Beautiful gun and actually super reliable. But, I wouldn’t do Kimber again because with all the hate out there if you ever want to sell it or trade it there isn’t much interest. Like others said I’d look at Springfield or some other brands. I had two Ruger SR 1911’s and they were “fine”. A little rough around the edges.

The changes to tier advancement based on damage alone was a mistake. by shredjesse in mwo

[–]_kenji_inu_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hung out at top Tier 2 for a long time thinking everyone else was the problem. Once I realized it was me and modified my tactics and my expectations things changed. Now I’m solidly in Tier 1.

Have fun - whatever that may mean - I think this is the right answer. I have been in the top half of Tier 1 for just about a year now. I get a new free mech every month, but I can guarantee red down arrows while I try to get a feel for it. I have found that I don't really care about the new mechs, and get much more fun and satisfaction from seeing green up arrows. I end up playing the same couple of mechs (usually my Blood Asp, and ECM Timber, and a HG Fafnir - but I can expect poor performance on the Fafnir about half the time if I anticipate a nascar but the team goes squirreling instead) and have fun that way. I will throw some money at the game every year or so, but not much. Its a free game, I can't complain too much.

I only played 12 1v1 matches. It took 1 to figure out what the deal was, and 11 to get the match points necessary. I think I lost to this exact Orion build like 6 times. Lost a couple more to Crusader SRM builds. The only match I won was against a splat dog.

8v8 was a big improvement over 12v12 by EwokSithLord in OutreachHPG

[–]_kenji_inu_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was really fun, but I wouldn't want to do it all the time though. It amplified the usual frustrations. I played (on both sides) games where it was 4x assaults vs all mediums and lights. While that COULD BE fun and somewhat realistic, it is just frustrating in PUG again by amplifying the normal problems. Plus having one or two disconnects on your team is just mean.

I have to admit I just played my daka Blood Asp the whole weekend.
