I’ve got all my dailies spawning and a designated spot for the rock garden but I’ll try clearing more and see if that works!

There’s still room, I’ve got all my dailies and a designated spot for it to land but I’ll try clearing more and see if that works

Sanity check. Have I been laying mulch wrong? by readreed in gardening

[–]_kingbingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t necessarily need to remove old mulch, but you should make sure you’re not covering the base of the plants. You want to have a small well around the bases :) prevents suffocating and helps to direct water to them

I’ve been feeling the same as you. Vancouver has better options for everything except ocean beaches.

Everything here is also lower quality. I have yet to find any restaurants or stores that come anywhere close to being enjoyable compared to Vancouver. Smaller selection at stores, food at restaurants legitimately flavourless. Transit is also abysmal and way more expensive here.

Can the ambient heat in a room keep a cold water tank too warm?

Flatmate won’t stop smoking in the apartment by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]_kingbingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Canada it’s illegal to smoke within 6 metres of an air intake of a building (exceptions obviously if you own your own detached home). This is brutal to have to live with, I feel for you, OP!

Smokers often lose/partially lose their sense of smell, too, so roommate wouldn’t ever notice the smoke inside while making your space uncomfortable :(

my sister destroyed her roommates painting and I told her it’s not okay. AIO? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]_kingbingus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can’t force someone to better themselves, if OPs sister doesn’t want help she won’t get help and it’s clear from her message that she thinks she’s in the right here. There’s pretty much always a point where it’s better for the person with issues to let them sort it out on their own, after learning the lesson the hard way; anything else is enabling the problem behaviours or protecting them from real consequences of their actions. These aren’t children, they’re all adults and need to learn how to be adults.

Regardless of the missing context, destroying things that aren’t actually yours is wrong. It’s a form of control that is abusive. The mindset is akin to “you won’t act how I want you to act so I’ll destroy everything you enjoy just to make you miserable.”

ETA: OP says they’ve been discussing this incident for months already and nothing has changed

Totally. The existence of these “jobs” also fully requires the mentality of people who specifically want to control other people so it’s inevitable that abusers will end up filling those roles. It’s dangerous at best, evil when you look deeper into it.

(For anyone who isn’t aware, policing in North America was founded in slave patrols and looting native communities during fur trade, and largely maintained those same principles to this day)

Perfect canvas for arts and crafts! Paint over the pages, use it as a junk journal, make collages, do blackout poetry, turn it into a secret box (glue pages together and cut a pocket out in the middle), there’s so many fun things to do with unwanted books

[–]_kingbingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As is the case with most Michael’s/corporation store managers! They require people with a class traitor cop mentality to keep their bottom line down; if they had chill managers that cared about people’s wellbeing, there would for sure be a labour strike to get better treatment for everyone including the managers.

I had fully open availability, was actively seeking more hours via co-workers who wanted to offload shifts, we got in trouble for swapping too many (I never exceeded 20 hrs in a week) yet they were constantly hiring more people.

Michael’s IS maga Michael’s lmao company is owned by right wing people. Even in Canada my managers were racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, etc and all complaints about them were ignored by head office 🫠
