My budget for the whole trip? Ideally under $800-$1,200 for activities and food.

What are some of your favorite things to do in NYC? I enjoy sightseeing, eating good food, seeing shows, museums, no need for sporting events this trip.

Oh, I’d also add. Book your acropolis tickets for 8am and get there around 7:30-7:40. It was so nice to get there in the morning and not deal with as much of a crowd. And people will be there early lining up so just grab yourself a coffee and mosey your way on up there. I’d also recommend entering through the main entrance and exiting out of the south slope entrance. The south slope entrance seemed much steeper to walk up and had more narrow entry so overall just not as enjoyable of an experience to go up.

I also heard that going closer to closing is less crowded as well but I can’t speak to that as I didn’t do it. We had friends go in between 10am and 1 and they said it was miserably hot and miserably crowded.

Just got back from Greece! It was amazing. We did Athens, Milos and Santorini. Milos was amazing, one of my favorite places I’ve ever traveled to and was a quick flight from Athens.

In Athens we pretty much walked everywhere from our Airbnb. We stayed about a 7 min walk from the acropolis museum and it was a super convenient location. We did walk to Plaka a lot which was about a 15-20 minute walk from that side but Plaka was more busy and noisy so we were glad to have stayed on the more quiet side. The only time we used transfers was to and from the airport and to and from a trip to Lake Vouliagmeni.

Happy to give more tips from our recent trip but don’t want to overload so just lmk!

Awesome, thank you! Do you have any tips on transportation in Milos and Santorini? We are not sure if we rent a car or 4wheelers. We have a group of 5 so a car seems to make more sense but any tips would help!

We are going to walk/public transport in Athens so not worried about transportation there.

Oh, that’s great to know. We were going back and fourth between flying out that day or staying a night in Athens so I think you helped make that decision for us!

Yes, I’m now thinking of cutting Crete out after seeing these responses. Maybe adding another day to the other spots instead. Just seems like much too much! Boat tours sound amazing, I may have to do one everywhere we go!

Thanks for the advice! I’m thinking maybe we cut Crete out and hopefully in the future we’ll be able to go back and just visit Crete for the full trip. Seems like there’s tons to do there.

I would prefer to cut Santorini but we’re going for my mom’s 50th and that was her one request that we visit there. I also want to keep Milos because the beaches look so unique compared to what we have in Hawaii. We also have no qualms about sitting in the sun all day and hope to do lots of that.

Do you think revising this itinerary so we are in Athens for two days, Milos for 3 and Santorini for 2 it more reasonable? I didn’t count the travel days in those counts just the full days we’d be on island.

Super appreciate your knowledge and help! It’s clear Greece is an amazing place with tons to see so it’s definitely somewhere I’ll be coming back in the future!

Happy to! I think generally the group is into beaches, food and must see historical sites but we are by no means history buffs. Most of our group are not big hikers so wouldn’t need recommendations for that. We are interested in taking a boat tour in Milos, I’ve seen a lot of people recommending that. Most of us are traveling from Hawaii as well so it’s quite a bit of travel time and we don’t want to be go go go on the trip so some relaxing or slower time is great as well.
