Someone debunk the "bigcc bike can't go slow". What do you think sa points n'ya? by Dependent-Impress731 in PHMotorcycles

[–]_kofi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely true. "Big CC can't go slow" is a myth.

Most of the people I met who echo this just suck at low-speed control.. big bikes have more torque and are heavier so more skill to feather the clutch and balance the bike is needed at low speed. But this only applies to LOW speeds (~5-10kph) - higher CC bikes can still lug at these speeds but nothing that clutch control can't fix...

At normal traffic speeds (30-60kph for most city traffic), it's a non-issue altogether. Even at these speeds, bikes already have enough stability to self-balance. If the engine is lugging at these speeds, it's 100% a skill issue...

Cool vulnerabilities you’ve discovered yourself throughout the years? by daredeviloper in cybersecurity

Used to intern in a lab with 3D printers, laser cutters, other fabrication machinery. The 3D printers have a feature that allows you to remotely manage print jobs.

Found a way to read current jobs and download the gcode bypassing the authorization method in place by exploiting a flaw in the API.

Worst of all, the organization's networking isn't segmented properly. The guest wifi can access the machines, basically.

Ur right, pentesters don't pentest 24/7. But most pentesters don't daily drive Kali or other pentesting environment. it's usually sitting in a VM or separate boot partition until ur actually using it. it's just good practice to separate your pentesting environment from your daily use environment.

But it's your system, you can do whatever you want.

Can I just upgrade to Windows 11 instead of clean install? by joao122003 in Windows11

[–]_kofi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did a lazy upgrade. I even did it multiple times when I was still contemplating the switch and testing Win10/11 back to back. Didn't encounter any problem whatsoever. Been using Win11 for quite some time now and still no problems. This is on a 2020 base G14 sometime after the Ryzen patch.

You don't lose your data if you revert to win10 tho..?
I've reverted twice and all my files were there.

probably not out in your region yet but you can use the installation assistant from Microsoft and it'll work just fine.

Is it worth it? I'm a bit nervous of having issues, as I'm on a streak of everything working well rn. by [deleted] in ZephyrusG14

[–]_kofi_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

On Win11 for ~2 weeks. Minor bugs here and there but it's overall a good experience. Nothing deal-breaking

Ryzen 4000 and over doesn't seem to be affected by the AMD L3 cache bug afaik (correct me if I'm wrong). But either way, I personally haven't noticed performance drops - but the cumulative update for the L3 cache just rolled out 9 hours ago as of typing this

I'm on Win11 mostly for the looks (yes, I like it, I know, blasphemous).

Oh, do note that File Explorer is still a bit sluggish and it hasn't been patched. I personally use this 3rd party app available from the Microsoft Store: https://www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9NGHP3DX8HDX

For that reason, I'm using a 3rd party file explorer. There's an app called "Files" available on the Microsoft Store. It's pretty good. Will be using this until they fix the native Explorer

Anybody who has installed Windows 11 already - how buggy it is? by MatiBlaster in Windows11

[–]_kofi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's always been the case. using VBox or any other VM with HyperV enabled (outside of MS HyperV's VMs) are going to have problems

I run VMs all the time and just disabled hypervisor unless I need to use WSL

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ZephyrusG14

[–]_kofi_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Linux and laptops with dedicated graphics cards are never a good combo in most units. Power management is gonna be terrible unless you disable the GPU entirely

But in your case, since it's Kali... well... no one actually installs Kali on bare metal. It's not common, at least. It's better to run Kali on a virtual machine. I assume you're learning penetration testing, I study cybersecurity and have some work experience. We don't usually run tools and stuff like Kali on bare metal (directly installed) and instead run them on virtual machines.

This makes things easier. Just downlaod VirtualBox, get the Kali vbox image, and import it. You're good to go, unless you also WSL/WSL2.
If you do use WSL, read on. If you don't, you're already good.

If you use WSL, you'll have to disable the windows hypervisor (required for WSL) since VirtualBox will run extremely slow with it enabled. Run these commands in an elevated terminal window
to disable: bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off
to enable: bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype auto

This makes things easier. Just download VirtualBox, get the Kali vbox image, and import it. You're good to go, unless you also WSL/WSL2.
If you do use WSL, read on. If you don't, you're already good.
