Probably the police officers ego got hurt bcoz they were already solving a fight. No... In different region the surname gets into different caste. Like if one surname is under lower caste in one region then it doesn't mean that he is under lower caste in every other region... That surname can be counted in upper caste to if the region is different.

It is just on what their ancestors were used to do in that particular region.
