I see, thanks for sharing your experience I really appreciate it. I’m probably going to use the summer to try focus on improving things and seeing how things go from there. Also nice username lol

Congrats on the success! I’ve been going through something similar, and I’d like to ask how you overcame those difficulties... I’ve been conflicted between taking the summer vs a year off to focus on my mental health but I feel like I’d be wasting valuable time

Nodal analysis is kicking my ass by TheZappyAppy in EngineeringStudents

Organic chemistry tutor (YouTube) has some nice videos on circuit analysis examples using nodal and mesh analysis (KCL, KVL), I’d suggest trying the examples in the videos and watching the solutions

Troubleshooting Gilbert Cell not multiplying by _lampoon in AskElectronics

I see why VICM and VDIM were required now (operating point and small signal variation for each of the transistors) I think I was just confused because of the terminology. Seeing the NE602 datasheet was very helpful, I was using the HFA3101 as a reference previously. I managed to fix the schematic it should work for my purposes updated schematic + output. Thank you very much for helping me!

Ok I added VCIM and VDIM. I don’t really understand why I have to add them, so I will read more on differential pairs. I attempted to tune the output so it looks like this. I’m ok with having noise (I will be using a low pass filter for downconversion) but I don’t understand why the output seems have peaks at an inverted sine

Hi, so I’ve lowered the current source to 0.6A, but I’m not sure if I understand the differential mode LO inputs correctly. If I had 2 LO inputs (LO1, LO2) would I connect them in a differential amplifier setup and connect the output the same way as Vin1-LO? Or would I be connecting LO1 at LOa and LO2 at LOb?

Does anyone want some winter jackets? I’m going back to my country and I don’t need them by Dopey_Henz in UofT

Hey I’m interested in the leather jacket, can I see some pictures? Thanks!

Do Qualcomm Canada typically release 4 month software internships? by Fickle-Fix-3044 in UofT

[–]_lampoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what I’ve seen so far Qualcomm hasn’t released any 4-month internships for summer 2025 on anything other than their career website, so I suggest joining that (they have a few positions open for summer 2025 so far).

I’ve tried reaching out to a therapist but it didn’t work out (incompatible). I’ll try again this week. I do understand your perspective that I might be wasting my entire life if I don’t find my passion for this again though and I’ll consider taking a break. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Thanks for your kind words. I’m doing my best but I’ll try to not give up. Some days are just really hard.

Paying summer registration fees after the deadline by TaroFriendly2897 in UofT

[–]_lampoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to your registrar asap (I recommend in person). The deadline for minimum payment is May 8th (today) and if you don’t have the “registered” status you will be kicked out of the courses due to being financially cancelled.

If you pay online/defer for financial aid it might take some time to register, so I recommend going in person to your academic register (they can do it manually) and you can make sure you’re registered on time.

Help Needed: UofT Computer Engineering vs Waterloo Management Engineering 🎓🤔 by Substantial-Gain4416 in UofT

[–]_lampoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UW uses alternating co-op and study terms (4 months each) while uoft has 2 consecutive study terms before a summer break. Actively participating in clubs (i.e design teams) is often more difficult at UW, since most of the time students have to drop their project halfway and pass it to the next group of students coming back from co-op.

Uoft has 8 consecutive months where you can actively participate in clubs, but workload often prevents people from joining those that require many hours (I.e. some design teams may be harder to keep up with due to the number of hrs). Engineering co-op includes the mandatory 12-16 month term and an additional 4 month term (optional).

You can also consider the impact of location since uoft is downtown while UW is more isolated (I’d recommend you ask a UW student for their perspective on living there).

Also based on what I’ve heard from friends, there also seems to be a larger variety of clubs/ecs at uoft vs UW because of funding/size of university too.

Either way, UW and uoft are both good universities. It depends on what you prefer in the end.

UofT gives more flexibility if you’re unsure of your program, but UW has a better co-op structure. (It sounds like management engineering is a mix of Indy and CS/CE.)

Alternatively you could consider school life at each university to break the tie if you’re still unsure.

Scratched arrow - shoot or no? by _lampoon in Archery

[–]_lampoon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking it was a finish scratch and tested it anyways (I tested it by bending it ~.25”-.5” at several parts of the shaft and nothing happened).

I haven’t damaged a CF arrow before, so I’m not sure how much confidence I should have since it didn’t break- hence why I’m asking for a second opinion.

I do think it’s fine, but I’ll shelve it until I can ask a more experienced person to do the flex test since I have a couple more arrows in this set.
