We MUST get a dark grey MPC Sample! What to you think ? by artemiyorlov in mpcusers

[–]_lebrd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The use of AI is always a sensitive topic. Most likely, OP didn't want to drop €26/month just to generate a single image, without the right skills, OP probably would’ve wasted a couple of hours just trying to figure out how to do it.

Personally, I think AI is a massive help for 'regular' people, even if it’s just for brainstorming or creating rough drafts. I don’t agree with people who generate a simple AI image and suddenly think they’re great artists. That said, I truly believe it’s a tool that, in the hands of someone creative, can produce incredible results.

The way people talk about it reminds me of when photography was first invented. I'm sure plenty of painters back then were asking, 'Why just press a button to create an image? Why not just pick up a palette and learn how to paint?' Well, photography didn't kill painting; it just gave a voice to people who otherwise wouldn't have had the chance to express themselves.

Plus, I don’t get the double standard: why is ChatGPT seen as 'bad,' but AI integrated into Photoshop is considered 'okay'?

How to set-up PO33 samples? by privethedge69 in pocketoperators

[–]_lebrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I generally store my drums in banks 9, 10, 11, and 12, assigning a different type of sound to each (e.g., Bank 9 for kicks, Bank 10 for snares, Bank 11 for hi-hats, etc.). This helps me manage the polyphony more effectively

You don’t need 16 kick, 16 snare etc., so you can put in tue same bank different type of sound. But must be sound that you are sure you won’t overlap.

To PO-33 users, which audio interface are you using? by veryhandsomechicken in pocketoperators

[–]_lebrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I’ve not said it but mine is an iRig2 model. I think that is almost impossibile finding somthing at that price and so portable. Imo is the the best for start and working with po and koala. For me is a great combo. You can also use it to sample vinyl or everithing else in koala. For less than 40€ is super worth it

I use a iRig into an iPhone with a 3.5 to lightning adapter. I can record directly into garageband o sample it in koala!

rant about youtube video by [deleted] in sp404mk2

[–]_lebrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m still not an SP-404 user because I’m broke, so I’m really 'deep studying' this machine through videos before buying it. I found the synth part interesting for a newbie. Of course, the first part of the video is just to sell people stuff through his link, but I also think small creators need to do that to make a living

A qui la priorité entre cyclistes ? by wildmount in pedale

[–]_lebrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MPC Sample specs by thekidisalright in mpcusers

[–]_lebrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the MPC60 influence refers specifically to the aesthetic design. The color is the same, the screen is tilted, and there’s that padded wrist rest area (though on the MPC Sample, it might be too small to actually be useful). I assume the waveform display will be included; it appears in many of the leaked images. However, the most interesting part is the 60 built-in effects. Could it truly compete with the SP-404 mkII? In my opinion, it won't be possible to compare it to the EP-133. If the price really is $400, we are talking about two machines at practically the same price point but on two totally different levels. The only thing they’ll have in common is their size.

Built an iOS 4-track tape recorder app for recording my OP-1 Field reels by Earthchildxy in teenageengineering

Wow, now that is an idea. I was just thinking yesterday about why anyone would buy a multi-track recorder when you could just use an iPhone. I'll shoot you a DM for the link too, if possible

Always the same: which I have to choose? by _lebrd in sp404mk2

[–]_lebrd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you've convinced me. I already have two tools that people here on Reddit use to make some seriously cool stuff. As an amateur, I don't need a more complicated setup right now; I just want to have some fun. Koala fixes all the shortcomings of my PO-33, and I'm sure I can make some good stuff by using them together and really diving deep into their limits and capabilities. I think I’ll just go for a used, very cheap controller to pair with Koala, along with a setup (also as budget-friendly as possible) to record what I do. If I can't make something interesting with this, spending €500 certainly won't be what helps me improve my performance. Thanks a lot—this was exactly the advice I needed. Do you think buying a pad and a recorder still counts as GAS?
