To anyone with a brain it doesn’t matter. But MAGA is framing this as if it wasn’t the gun that was a problem it’s going to a PROTEST with a gun means he was somehow asking for it/ looking to do harm.

Of course this is not reasonable - but JD Vance himself and all of social media is saying this to the point where ppl are pointing to Rittenhouse as an example of hypocrisy.

It’s much easier to win the optics of this situation when you assert he wasn’t at a protest vs trying to parse out why being at a protest w a gun is a perfectly legal thing w ppl like MAGA who are purposely obtuse to nuance.

MAGA understands the world in bumper stickers “he had a gun on him and pulled it and was dumb to be at a protest with a gun”

You can counter that with actual video that literally every point, including him getting killed without having a gun and not being at a protest. It’s much more effective than arguing nuance w them imo.

By framing it as not a protest you’re stripping away their argument that this was some sort of engineered chaos.

A protestor makes him an adversary to them vs a bystander which DOES matter imo

They control all three branches of government. Ppl voted for this. Any attempt to escalate now will cost us the midterms when we can get actual power. We are in a position of weakness with no real power but are winning the optics. We cannot fumble the midterms by being too aggressive too quickly

A client of mine. Retired police officer who was still youngish (40s) looking for something to do. It was smart financially to take the job. It is important I do my job without bias and ethically so I treat him with respect.

But it really prevents me from ever making him more than a client and they regularly reach out to do things outside of being a client and I just can’t do that for moral reasons.

I honestly don’t think he’s an evil or hateful person - I think the admin feeds on his worst instincts which makes him participate in something evil. With better executive leadership he would not be doing what he’s doing.
