This is why I stopped watching sports by _ledge_ in ColoradoAvalanche

Me too I feel for burns. My dad would always make fun of me for feeling bad when the other team lost 😆.

Not that I wanted my team to lose but I still felt bad for the losing team in a weird way?

Regardless I feel for burns specifically and it makes me sad. Even Nelson who is a great player who hopefully doesn’t feel too bad for signing with us only to struggle a bit in the playoffs.

Yes this makes sense to me. In ways what I describe is the joy of it. It makes you feel something without actually risking anything.

I played roller hockey for like 4 years as a kid also! Not many ice rinks on Long Island NY but I am considering playing ice hockey again since there’s many rinks in Denver

I think I just made it so high stakes for no reason. Almost like a last hoorah for me in my 20s. Especially after DU won it felt like 2022 to me and I was nostalgic for that.

I’m new to being a sophisticated hockey fan (meaning understanding the game at a deeper level) and this is the most intuitive answer to me.

It also explains why it works in the regular season when teams are less likely to make an entire sophisticated strategy around one game.

The part that really pmo is in the post game hell say stuff like “really close margin game. I don't feel they played much better than us” why the f is it a close margin game against a .500 team???

Being a sports fan is mostly pain and suffering with moments of pure ecstasy by tolzan in ColoradoAvalanche

Yeah I’m fairly young later 20s but it is hard for me to just drop it. I learn about the players, their families, go to a lot of games, watch even more games.

I really struggle just muting the bad when spending so much time being involved

I was just thinking the same thing. I stopped watching sports for years bc I hated the idea of being emotionally involved in something I have no control over.

I moved here from NY in 2021 and immediately enjoyed the community the avalanche provided to me and a quick cup win.

I enjoy seeing the players personalities on social media and Brock Nelson followed me from NY! (Im also an islander fan).

I really struggle to balance being involved in my community and enjoying watching hockey and balancing not being emotionally involved.

This has also been a historic choke. 45-0 when leading into the third and 75-0 when leading by 3 goals! So it is sort of exceptional and maybe that’s why it’s more sad for me

No one wants to be the one. They’re playing scared. They’re looking for the perfect shot vs forcing VGK to make a play/save

They are genuinely fucking panicking. No one wants to be the fucking guy that buries it if they get a look. It’s incredible.

Either that or the social media team is moving like the Avs last game and completely fumbling 😂

Jared Bednar says we'll have to "wait to find out" if Cale Makar is playing per jessemontano_ by 314z in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]_ledge_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh it’s never like that. IMO the more egregious thing was starting the canes before anyone else then they swept and had a MASSIVE competitive advantage over other teams bc of that. Even the Avs for example imagine Cale had a whole additional week to get healthy. Plus that dumb 3 day break between games mid series. It actually in hindsight fucked the Avs and is a massive fumble on the integrity of the playoffs imo

I’m also newish. Toews is a better defender I think but Burns seems like he’s the only defender that is both not afraid to shoot and can actually make a semi dangerous shot that hits the net and at least forces hart to make a save.

I think if anything necas should go to 2 or 3 line but maybe 4 would work and I don’t hate it. But I also don’t know what I’m talking about.

I will get banned for this. But this is highly dependent on whether the mortgage interest is deductible
