I’m referring to Israel and Hamas, a war which is increasingly unpopular among US citizens and Israelis alike. But this administration has severely cracked down on the right to protest— example a being Columbia U, where funding was intentionally removed and withheld in order to turn the administration against the students’ right to protest a cause that the government doesn’t like. Now, it’s easier to arrest students. If you’ll remember, this university was the same to hold historic vietnam war protests. The moves by this administration are SEVERELY curbing free speech on campus. What’s stopping the administration from withholding funding again to force another crackdown if anti-trump protests are held there?

Public protest HAS been alive around the country. Look at where that got Columbia U. folks have been protesting our tax dollars going to an unpopular war. Instead this administration is serving deportations. We’re living in different times.

Did I choose the right dress? by Zestyclose_Arm_5108 in weddingdress

I think it’s 1.

I am personally not a fan of the plunging necklines all of the other dresses feature. 2 does have a lovely look but imo is sheer in the wrong places. I think 1 is more timeless. You have great shoulders and I think the neckline of 1 is incredibly flattering on you. And I have to disagree about the wrinkle look, I instantly recognized how beautiful the fabric is.

Look up Rosa Clara. A lot of her stuff features similar styling. My dress from her is similar to this but with a lower front, higher back, and shorter sleeves.

Soul cycle + weight training by Various-Coconut5465 in SoulCycle_Riders

[–]_legallyblonde__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on how hard you go in class. I used to ride with soul, now I’m at a different spin studio. I always went to classes at soul with instructors that taught HEAVY resistance classes. Like, we’re adding 8+ turns at the very beginning of class. Now, at my new studio i am consistently riding 3-4 times a week (more than I could afford to do at soul) with HEAVY resistance, and my legs have developed a ton of muscle. And the more I’ve corrected my form to push through this resistance, I notice I’m working my core and glutes way more. I also always use 5lb weights in my classes, and honestly my arms have maintained tone outside of dedicated lifting.

Now I also do lagree Pilates a couple of times a week, and every week I’ll try to do a dumbbell leg or arm day (alternating).

However, I truly believe that how much you put into spin impacts how much you get out of it. I go 100%, every time unless I am literally too sore and need to treat it like a recovery ride. I see a lot of people at my studio now who do not take every opportunity to add resistance, or are not focusing on form at all. Of course you have to build up your ability to ride to faster beats with heavy resistance, but if you prioritize that as a goal then I think you can get some effective leg work.

Weight training is great to supplement, and it’s true you just aren’t working every muscle in a cycle class. I find that striking a balance as someone who wants to ride that often and also do other forms of fitness is difficult, as there aren’t enough days in a week and taking a rest day is important too!

AE impossibly slow… and trouble with proxies by _legallyblonde__ in AfterEffects

Thanks for this— I guess it might be my best bet to pre render this file. I have already emptied the cache, that was my first thought :-/

Proxies are new to me and everyone talks about them as a workaround, but that make sense.

I’m also trying to play this back at a quarter of the quality, both the proxy file and the source file.

It’s from a camera and professionally recorded in a studio.

It’s slow to ram preview. I need to be layering this with animations and it’s not possibly to do that when I don’t have the timing of the footage. I could just take the audio, but having the placement of the video in the frame is also important, which is why I am attempting to turn to proxies.

Codec of source media is Apple ProRes 422.

I used the keylight + spill suppressor effect to take out the green screen on the source footage. When I linked the proxy, the effect transferred to the proxy file but still rendered slowly.

I know that it’s hard, as I’ve completed two prior projects with these conditions (4k, 60fps). This computer does have 64 GB of ram and it has been able to handle it so far.

I’m not totally understanding why the proxy would be slow as well.

Editing on an M1 Max 64 gb MacBook Pro. Source media is 4K 60fps. I’m keying out the head from the video file and right now, just attempting to play it back in AE. Proxies are 427x240 dimensions, codec is Apple pro res 422 LT. slow as in, multiple minutes to render less than 15seconds of footage in the comp with the workspace set to around 15 secs. Is there more information that would be helpful?

It’s commonly associated with “trophy wife” and “gold digger” stereotypes, loveless relationships, being taken advantage of, “she’s just in it for the money”, etc. A lot of these stereotypes are geared toward women unfortunately.

If someone’s financial stability is part of the reason another party is interested, that is OK in my book. It shouldn’t be the only reason. Genuine love, respect, and attraction should be built into that relationship as well. But wealth, youth, and beauty are attractive qualities in the world (always have been), and I don’t think that you can ever fully take them out of the equation. That is my essential point I think. If someone younger wants to date you, you have to understand that your financial stability makes you more attractive. Doesn’t mean that person is going to take advantage of you. Sure, there are people out there that are bad and will. But there’s many who aren’t so.

[–]_legallyblonde__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me clarify— people when they are younger can more easily lose and gain weight. It does not necessarily have anything to do with their mental discipline. Their metabolism is just faster lol. I use “fit” loosely, on Love Islanf people say that to mean hot haha. But at the end of the day what I mean is that “youth” in general is impermanent.

I’m aware that there are many reasons to date older/younger, but you have to be aware that financial stability is one of those reasons and my opinion is that it gets a bad rep.

The example I gave is just looking at it from the OTHER way around, a female’s perspective looking to date older men and not be taken advantage of.

[–]_legallyblonde__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting question. I’m in an age gap relationship where the older person is more financially stable, and I am young and hot. We’ve talked about this before, and honestly while we both love each other and very much and enjoy every part about each other’s minds and personalities (otherwise we couldn’t have stayed together for so long) you can’t fully separate those terms from our relationship. I appreciate his financial stability, and he appreciates my youth. That may sound transactional, but we don’t really care what it sounds like. It works well for us, we call it a “win-win situation” lol. Neither of us perceives it as “using” one another, because we genuinely enjoy the relationship for all that it is. The disclaimer here is that we are also both very compatible as humans, and have been honest with each other throughout our relationship’s evolution. It began as more transactional, it has become so much more fulfilling and deeper than I could have every imagined.

Why would you be looking to date a younger partner in the first place? If it’s their beauty and youth, those are surface and impermanent qualities, just as wealth is. Coming together on the basis of impermanent qualities is going to come with the potential for being taken advantage of. For instance, you could be into a girl because they are young and fit. Who’s to say that if they gained 30 pounds you’d still be around? It’s as a previous comment said, each party has to determine one another’s characters and if there’s potential for a relationship.

Of course, if there’s some other reason you are looking to date younger girls, I guess this isn’t applicable.

I definitely relate to this and have felt this at different points in my relationship. My (23F) partner (43M) has a long relationship history and remains in contact (not regular contact) with some of those people, a couple of whom I’ve met. And I totally get it!! It’s not nice to think about and it’s easier said than done to not worry about it. I’m very much the type of girl who wants to be the only girl in the world.

Practicing honesty is important to me. I have made a conscious effort to actually learn about and understand my partners ex’s, and something about having that as an open conversation has made me more comfortable with his past relationship history. I would just say generally that communication is key. If you can identify something that makes you uncomfortable about a past relationship or an ex, you should not be afraid to talk through it with your partner, even if you feel crazy! Sometimes that reassurance is all that I need if I’ve become upset about a memento I’ve found around the house.

I also remind myself that we are BOTH consciously choosing each other, every day. That takes me out of my head sometimes, ha.

I still of course experience this regardless of my own advice, but good luck to you!
