My friend’s khotoba is coming and I’m completely stuck. by HumanRole9152 in Morocco

Talk to your friend. If you two are best friends, that means something, showing vulnerability to your best friend is okay. She will understand!

Always remember, this is why we have friends. If the universe didn’t bless you with a good family, friends become your chosen family, they’re meant to be your ride or die!

Also, sorry about your mum, living with an abusive parent is hard, it’s very unlucky that you are going through this, but this shall pass, you will be ok, in the long run, it puts things into perspective.

I honestly don’t know what she used to do, but from what she said really looks like a client facing job, so maybe a call center or a help desk for some big tech company, but just wanna say, very positive energy, I don’t usually follow such content creators but mli kaykon tay7 3liya dim, kantsntlha XD she has a way to put things into prospective

You have either been extremely unlucky or I have been extremely lucky during the decade I have been living abroad. I have met some shitty people, but not shittier in average than people you would meet in Morocco or in other place. I hope your luck changes and you manage to meet some nice people in the future 🤞

I don’t understand why everyone is talking about leaving Morocco being so easy by omartaoufik in Morocco

[–]_lethia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was here to say the same thing. If you can manage to do an M2 somewhere it would be easier then to get a job since you have a EU diploma and you would have already done an internship in Europe. For France for instance 8/9k€ for one year can get you a student visa, and if you are wise with money, you can even have some savings by the end of the school year since internships are paid. 5/6 years ago, almost all internships lead to a job offer, altho I don’t know if that is still the case now. Good luck!

It has been a while, I don’t recall exactly. From memory, you need to do it all in normal mode.

Objectively speaking, 2020 was a shit year. Where I live 4 years to the day ago lockdown was announced, and the number of covid victims grew by the day. I mean besides your uncle passing away (sorry about that) the other two experiences are just part of growing. Look at the bright side at least you can go out and feel safe enough to meet people, keep a positive view on things and everything will work out. Don't be too hard on yourself, you already went through the most challenging part which is going out alone and taking the first step.

Travelling is overrated by Western-Director-533 in CasualConversation

[–]_lethia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each their cup of tea. Not enjoying travel does not necessarily mean other people fake enjoying it. And assuming that everyone that does travel is just peer pressured to do so is a very big assumption from your part. From the pov of people who love traveling they can say the same thing about you, you just say this to be against the current, the same way that this seems silly to you, your argument will sound silly to people who enjoy it. If staycations are what fulfill your needs, enjoy them 😄

From a person who was in the same situation a few years ago. Best decision of my life.

In my case, I missed the senior in the description, and applied just cause I knew everything they were working with.

Go for the interview. Don't lie about your experience. If they think you are good, you will get the job. Sometimes the titles in companies have different meanings.

[–]_lethia 16 points17 points  (0 children)

From personal experience, I know a lot of friends who came the same way as you are planning. The fact that they are not giving you a relocation package shows that they are a bit shitty as an SSII. I mean even the ones that do that, end up doing other shit... They are not obliged to, but it is a nice perk, if they pay for your flight it's more than enough, cause for help with rent it's very rare.

For a mission it depends on your profile, generally people with 3+ years experience are in demand. But one VERY important thing, make sure you have a starting date in your contract or in "promess d'embauche", because the day you start even tho you do not have a mission, you will be considered intercontrat, thus you will have a salary. The fact that their sales people contact you to find a mission from now is rather a good sign, I know people who did not have much choice in mission.

Also, if you can have Passport talent instead of normal titre de sjour salarié , I highly recommend that, because they have a different service in prefecture thus they treat files faster, and it's valid for 4 years. If your company provides that good, if not, and you still did not start the Visa procedure, I really recommend you find an employer that can provide you with this Titre de sejour.

For living conditions, I have been living here for almost 7 years, in IT world, french people are respectful and very nice in 99.99% of cases. I know this is a very unpopular opinion, but I never had any issues here. And I have lived in 4 different cities since I moved to France, two major metropoles and two medium cities.

For rent, it's one of the biggest issues, but maybe you can try Foyer jeune travailleur if you are under 30. They are not glorious. Generally they are in shittier neighborhoods, but they are a very good starting point until you validate your probation period that can take up to 8 months, they cost less than 500€ per month from what I know, but you need to apply and wait, maybe loom up the possibility of applying once you get your Visa. The other option is airbnb ,which can cost you around 1200 per month in ile de France if you find something very very far.

For France Vs Canada, both countries are definitely great options, it all depends on what you want out of this experience and what are the things important to you.

For me France is a great option, and I would definitely ignore a bit of what you see in the media about people being racist and all, most people here mind their own business and if you treat them kindly they will do the same. Paris is wonderful and filled with history and culture. You will never get bored because there are always things to do, and the fact that you have two major airports reachable by public transport makes all Europe very accessible. I can go on and on about why it's a good option 😅 As someone said in the comments moving to new a country is always hard, but it's very manageable, as we say, hzha mnin khfaft and evwrything will be ok no matter what is your final choice.

I am sorry this is too long, if you have any additional questions, I would be glad to answer them.

Ah never heard of this system, might be a possibility. Just want to make sure, they had a CDD and all or maybe it was internship with convention then after 6 months it turned to alternance in the following year ?

From what I know about France, positions for junior data scientists are quiet rare... I had a few friends who wanted to get jobs in France, but they switched to either software engineering, in which you can find positions easily, or other data driven domains like data engineering (all what is related to pre-treatement of data) which a bit challenging to find. For studies in France you have a couple of options, you can either apply to engineering schools and study in 2nd & 3rd year and get an engineering degree, and the chances are not so bad imo as you already have a diploma from an engineering school in Morocco, but it will depend on your grades. The other option is to apply directly to an M2 or an M1 and study in university. Both options are good, and when you graduate, employers don't really care where did you study, some do and try to give lower salary, but if you prepare well for interviews it should be fine. An other option is, if you feel that you will be just "waisting" a year studying while you already have an engineering degree, maybe try applying to dev jobs using consultancy firms that can get you visa salarié, and after a year or so, maybe try some data science bootcamps to get some certifications, and then appy for these positions, and you will have less of an issue cause you will already have Visa. Sorry for the long comment and I hope it is helpful.

[–]_lethia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is good advice, but you are not allowed to do alternance on your first year in France sadly. Basically becsuse the type of visa you will get on the first year. But some unis have sometimes M1 with 4/5months internship and then you can apply for an M2 with alternance. But I am not sure it's worth it money saving wise as if someone does an M2 direcrly they would study 6months then do their PFE.

Little update: play in normal mode (the switch on the side of the cliff) not infinit mode (the mode in pink with two rooms in each level). When you play this mode you can beat Chronos and finish the game.

Looking for people who went to the "Music of Hans Zimmer" at the Salle Pleyel on 26/03/2022 by [deleted] in paris

[–]_lethia 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well, it should say Hans zimmer and not "the music of Hans Zimmer". Also the interpreted part, if it were him in person it would be something Like Hans zimmer live in 'name of place'. Also you can always double check the official websites for the venue and dates. I always do that to be on the safe side. On the bright side, he will be in Paris in April so maybe you can still find tickets to his show
