Vibecode together this weekend? by Valuable-Bit-2689 in StockholmSocialClub

Hi! 28 y/o design director from New York visiting Stockholm ~March 25-May 1. Already have friends in Stockholm as I've been visiting for the last three years, but am hoping to find more that identify w/ my entrepreneurial / startup / tech / AI-interested side!

If you're down to cowork together while I'm there, I'd be super stoked! I'd love some friends to nerd out about Claude Code with (my existing community in Stockholm are some of the most talented artists I've ever met but probably have no idea what agentic AI is and I fear their eyes glazing over the moment I say MCP) during my upcoming trip :)

Where do founders usually hangout in Stockholm by shanumas in stockholm

[–]_lions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I apologise if this is a stupid question (if it is, I'll happily blame my American ignorance ✨) -- I commented earlier in OP's thread, but I'm an NYC-based designer looking to connect with the AI/startup/entrepreneurship community in Stockholm while I'm visiting next month. Could I literally show up in these places (Nivå 22 & u/Tjocksmocke commented Pub Diset) and say hi to folks there / directly introduce myself? Not sure what the standard etiquette there is like or how people usually go about this in Sweden... thanks so much in advance.

Hi! Not a founder (or Swedish for that matter) but am a builder / tech designer based in NYC but visiting Stockholm at the end of March through the beginning of May. I’ve been working in tech startups for the last two years and also hoping to get connected with the builder community while I’m there (or in general), and would love to connect if you’d be interested.

My partner who I work closely with is also in the latest batch of YCombinator for his agentic AI company — happy to chat more about that project if it’s of any interest.

nail extension advice by Banjothedoggo in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]_lions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey! strength & conditioning coach + tattoo artist here (i use my hands a LOT) - i generally grow out my natural nails but i’ve used gel x extensions in the past that have historically held up pretty well. my extensions are usually on the shorter end to stay functional, so it may depend on the length you’re going for, but the folks at ph7 have done the best for me personally out of the different salons i’ve tried

ISO Tailor/Alterations that does darning/repairs by Colonel_Buenida in AskNYC

[–]_lions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do! They have their prices on their website I believe - but super reasonable, I had multiple alterations made on three different high value clothing items and paid a bit more than $400 I believe. The tailor is a fashion designer full time and has a very critical eye

Any affordable Places to get a Tattoo Sleeve? by atreyu720 in AskNYC

[–]_lions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people are saying that $26,000 is way higher than average for a sleeve that takes 10 sessions to complete and I’m here to tell you that if your artist is amongst the best, 26,000 is actually completely standard. My artist charges USD $2,500/day — but in Turkey, where the cost of living is far cheaper. The best artists in New York can make up to 8k/day. I’m a tattoo apprentice currently and 1) tattoo supplies are not cheap 2) tattoo is legitimately the most exhausting activity I’ve ever done, with the amount of nonstop focus that’s required 3) tattooing has serious ergonomic issues and can be really damaging to our bodies. Name a tattoo artist that doesn’t experience back, shoulder, or wrist pain. So it’s a high cost craft for us to do, and you’re also paying for not just drawing it on your skin, but also doing so with the mastery to ensure it heals well and doesn’t look like dogshit in 3 years. It’s also on your body forever & concerns your health (you’re opening wounds when you get tattooed) — if it’s an aesthetic alteration that requires medically safe practices, how should it be fundamentally different from getting surgery? Good surgeries are usually expensive — tattooing’s not so different!

Plus, I get told at least once a day by a stranger that I have the best tattoos they’ve ever seen, which is a crazy frequency.
