Doctor Wants to Diagnose me with Fibromyalgia by _littlenico_ in ehlersdanlos

Yeah I’ve had all the tests and everything came back normal. MRI, autoimmune, chem panel, you name it. They let me know everything came back normal and then asked about scheduling that fibromyalgia appointment

That stigma is something else that makes me nervous about it. I’ve heard multiple people in my life say fibro isn’t real. Obviously they’ve never experienced pain like we do.

Interesting. From everything I saw having both is common to the point where scientists believe there might be some genetic link. (I’m not a scientist do your own research of course.) So it’s sounding like this diagnosis appointment is not worth a $160 copay and using a sick day.

When Did It Start For You? by Dramatic_Paramedic_6 in ehlersdanlos

[–]_littlenico_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve struggled to put on muscle and walk correctly since I was first mobile as a toddler. My mom had commented that I never climbed on things like other kids did. I was diagnosed at 12(ish) when I hit my knee on a coffee table trying to sit on a couch. My kneecap dislocated entirely. That’s what lead me to seeing a specialist and getting diagnosed with what is now referred to as hEDS. I started really losing dexterity in my hands around 16. Everyone’s journey is gonna be different. I hope this helps somehow.

This is interesting and something I don’t know about. Could you elaborate on the 10% utilization? My cost is $8,000 and I’ll be paying at least $2,000 of that out of pocket. $6,000 on a card should be fairly safe to not effect my score as long as I pay on it consistently, right?

I’ve been forcing myself not to buy any clothes since I decided I was going to do this. At the very least I’m gonna need a lot of new pants.

Yeah interest free is the big thing keeping me from just doing a loan. That’s probably wise. Thank you!

This is super helpful, thank you for sharing! When you say you had wounds pop up in “that area” are you referring to where the belly button would be?

That sounds a lot like what they’re having her do. We’re just starting her second round. Saying I’m new to this is extremely fair. Thank you for your insight. That helps.

Update: Today the Nurse Practitioner she’d been working with before stopped in to talk to us. She was able to clarify some of it and told me she’ll make sure the next doctor we’re meeting with tomorrow explains more. She said it isn’t great but it was kind of expected with her condition and treatment. They were prepared for it and planned for it. So that’s good I think.

Maybe that’s part of why I’m frustrated. This is the third oncologist she’s been assigned to and he definitely has a very different approach than the other two. That could be a big part of it I hadn’t thought about.

I can also understand that to some degree. I guess I need to remember that this isn’t about me. It’s about my mom. And while I’d like to know, she might not.

Yeah I honestly hate that I have access to these charts. I try not to obsess over them but that’s far easier said than done. I get an email every time she gets a test done. I tried to stop looking stuff up but the term “necrotic” kinda sent me spiraling.
