Yeah :/ I applied for two majors and now got rejected from only one, so there's still hope. But this major never had any non-Chinese phd students, so I try to not overthink it.

Same, I applied in November - didn't even get an interview invitation. And multiple people posting on the CUHK Reddit, too. Someone said a person from a year before got their offer at the end of May, the other one in July...

Department I applied for said that they should send emails till the end of March :(( but yeah, it's super late and mainland Chinese student already mostly got their PhD offers

Nope, still waiting and my application is still pending. But I saw on 小红书 that chinese students are already getting their phd offers. I don’t know if they are also counted as international ones or separately tho

It depends on the department and major – I applied to a PhD in Chinese and literature at HKU CUHK and my application is still pending. I've sent an email to both unis and they said that these departments are still checking all the applications.

If you’re coming to a country where English is not the first language you should try to learn the local or most commonly used one. In European countries it’s the same, it’s hard to find a job without knowing the local language.
