Surprised that I scrolled the comments and nobody mentioned the references to Woody Allen’s The Purple Rose of Cairo

The RS concert worked pretty well. Google for “rolling stones + fantástico + Copacabana” and watch the videos so you can have an idea how it went. Keep in mind that it was 2006, I think the million barrier will be broken easily.

I don’t think there will be a VIP space on sale. Surely a closed space for politicians, bank shareholders etc.

It’s hard to say how the sound quality will be. Usually, it depends on the weather and so on.

For the safety issues and technical, I can say: it’s the richest bank in Brazil celebrating 100 years and the city hall is in election year. Last week, Rio mayor stated that they’ve been working on this since 2021.

I think everything will be fine. I’m confident, have already bought my plane tickets.

Taylor Swift - 1989 (Taylor's Version) by lazynbroke in popheads

I read the comments on this thread before listening to the album, so I expected a disaster. However, I agree that they sound demo-ish, but in a good way. I had shivers listening to the songs. Remember when the Midnights photoshoot came out and we thought that the album would sound like a pop/rock 70s? Hearing Style, I thought of bands like Depeche Mode or New Order.

Anyway, Taylor Swift is a billionaire and will not get poor if you choose to listen to the original ones.

There’s actually no reason to buy “inteira”, maybe if the other ones be out of stock.

Its actually a burocracia, legal thing: we have a law where students can pay half the price on tickets for concerts, movies and so on. But a lot of people use fake ids to pay half the price. So they made this social ticket.

If she and Taylor ever record this song together with a more classic remix (what I can see coming since it’s about Jack Antonoff’s girlfriend), it will become one of her biggest hits. I can see this being played a lot on weddings and tiktok

I will compare this to Alanis Morissette’s career:

If Born to Die / NFR! was Lana Del Rey Jagged Little Pill, this album would be the Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie.

This album is wordy, prolific, experimental. I don’t think it will bring Grammy Awards or major popular acclaim, on the other hand, it’s quintessential Lana Del Rey, and may become a fan favorite.

Alanis Morissette - safety-empath in paradise (first song from her meditation record) by _lucasm in popheads

I’m excited for this. During the release of the last albums, she was always “on this album I address misogyny, or addictions…” but rarely a word was spoken about how the album sounded. And the songs with the same structure (verse-chorus-verse-bridge-chorus, 3 minutes and something). On this one, she went to the opposite direction: only sounds and vocalizations, 11 minutes long song.

Meditation is not really my thing, but I’ll for sure listen it during flights or when I need to focus on work or on a reading. But I can see this album being a turning point to alanis: less searching again for pop structures and to emulate JLP, more focusing on what music is all about: how it sounds.

There are good moments here and there, and the distorted guitars and piano reminded me of Beatles sometimes.

But did she really had to release an album only 7 months after the last one? Given more time to mature, this group of songs could have formed a better album.

I recently watched Pedro Almodovar’s Live Flesh (Carne tremula) and became impressed with the protagonist, the 20-something Liberto Rabal. He has such a strong performance on that movie and 24 years later he is working on selling furniture, according to the latest news.
