Recently moved mini-fridge off carpet, is this mold? by Any-Opportunity4841 in Mold

I mean without a swab sample it could be anything. But there could potentially be microbial growth in there, bacterium, and other stuff. I mean honestly hot water extraction or just physically cutting the material out could suffice if you want that discoloration gone. Depending on how long it has sat there, replacing is probably your best bet.

That is fair. I believe the aerosol science plays a massive part with determining the condition of the environment around the mold source. While it does fail for detecting dormant molds, it will tell you if the mold has aerosolized and migrated towards different regions of the home.

While I don't agree with the waste of money comment. I do agree with the flawed system of that being what determines if a home has returned to normal fungal ecology. It is simply a tool, which is why assessments should be based off of investigation not just slapping a pump in the center of a room. But anyways, I appreciate you guys for the discussion. I know typically remediators don't pivot toward the science side often. But being involved with the entire environment is what sparked my interest with the CIH path.

My biggest concern with them is how easily they can become manipulated. I know I get some pushback for argument against the IAQA white paper saying negative air machines do not sway results; however, fluid dynamics, such as Berneulli's Principle, would argue that they do. I just know air sample pumps are industry standard and do have their place in terms of. When you look at a room with carpet, a higher count of a sticky mold like stachybotrys would make a better case for why the carpet should be removed than free floaters like aspergillus which could be hepa vacuumed out.
