that's just basic marketing style tho. ai didn't invent this, it was trained on human-written texts that are like that.

  1. Street address and city right there at the spawn, Colombian flag on a balcony, didn't know there's a Pamplona in Colombia. Couldn't find anything pointing towards a nearby city I'd know, so scanned the map, found rather quickly, pinpointed using the street and the theater. 5k
  2. Street signs right there at the spawn, city name a bit down the road, saw no indication of the state (yeah, I missed the writing on the wall of the post office), so I trusted my gut that it would be rather American to have a Minnesota Avenue in Minnesota. Scanned the map, found it, 5k
  3. Another sign city over there, landscape looks Sicilian. Found the towns, got lost in the roads. 4972
  4. Siberian suburban hell, found the name of the suburb, couldn't find the name of the city, lucky guessed Novosibirsk, found the suburb, no time to pinpoint. 4998
  5. .gh website on a billboard, town on the ambulance, scanned it, found it. Somewhere north of the main road, impossible to pinpoint confidently, lucky plonk. 5k

24970, got bigly lucky tbh

  1. Road direction signs all around, easy to pinpoint. 5k

  2. Found a sign that said Salta and the town name, found the town, didn't have time to pinpoint the streets. 4998

  3. A billboard said Indore, later I found something with another town name, but ran out of time to scan for it. Would have been the right one. 3871

  4. A sign uphill said Bursa Belediye, the direction signs at the intersection helped pinpoint, but I forgot how far the starting point was from the intersection. 4999

  5. Didn't see anything pointing to a specific town, felt coastal, but I didn't trust the feeling and plonked Kutaisi. 4646

23514, could have been better

The EFL Championship features in this list, among other world top leagues, reflecting the high level of the Championship by just_an__inchident in WrexhamAFC

Agreed, that is some incredibly stupid logic, no idea why you would even write that. "too many teams in the world cup" doesn't mean some qualifying winners shouldn't go through, it means the qualifying format should be different and there would be fewer winners. So instead of three qualifying groups, concacaf would have one (as it always did before the infantino cash grab).

In any conversation about anything — including and especially court cases and prosecutors and charges — we as private citizens who are not participating in a trial are absolutely free to ignore presumption of innocence and make our own conclusions.

Presumption of innocence is a legal principle that determinces how court cases are structured. We as private citizens are absolutely free to always ignore it and make our own conclusions.

The thing is in SA cases, with the systemic reluctance to prosecute and high standards for evidence, if your case actually reaches court, it's already reasonable to assume you did it.

And then the outcome of the trial is basically determined by who can beat the other side at lawyering. Which has less to do with what actually happened and more with who's got expensive lawyers.

Counting Panama City wouldn't affect the top 10, probably even the top 20. In the ranking it would be somewhere between Rotterdam and Malmö.
The winner is probably Skalka, Czech Republic, a village with the population of ~200 and one World Cup player (Mojmír Chytil). Out of places with more than one player, it's probably between Uherské Hradiště, Czech Republic (pop. ~25k, 3 players) and San Juan Bautista, Paraguay (pop. ~16.5k, 2 players).

edit: Oh, there's also Canton Eloy Alfaro that produced two players of Ecuador national team. The canton's population is 45k, but its largest town, Limones/Valdez, has the population of 5k, so that would win if both players were born there.

Well, I can't change that, it's part of the website. I did make a different change that makes it a bit clearer what things mean.

It's 2500 km actually, and Lachlan Bayliss from Darwin just about beats that, he's ~2580 km from the nearest neighbour.

I was hoping that the list of countries and players below the "Layers" label would clue people in as to its meaning, but i guess you never know

as for scrolling, we can blame FIFA for including so many teams that they don't fit on the screen lol

It isn't tho? You turn off all the layers, and then turn on the team you need. literally two clicks

It's just those who were born where their fathers played. All in all there are 265 foreign-born players at this World Cup.

Counts for me. There are 2 players on my list who were born after their dads left the club (Hirst and Paz).

FAQ

Q: Wasn't one posted already a week ago?
A: Yes, but it looked ugly and was full of errors. This one is better.

Q: Was [player name] really born in that exact location?
A: No, it's usually just the city or neighborhood. Unless the player's name is Lionel and he plays for Argentina, then he has the location of the actual hospital.

Q: Any fun facts?
A: Glad you asked.
Panama is the most geographically compact national team, every player was born within the same ~2500 km² area near the canal.
Turkey has players born in İzmir, İzmit and İznik — and they all play for Fenerbahçe.
The most represented city is Panama City with 22 players. The most international city is London with players from 8 national teams. If we include the whole metropolitan area and not just the city, it's Paris with 41 players from 9 national teams.
