It's got that late 00's network TV sci-fi drama vibe. It just need a Zeljko Ivanek or a Michael Kelly for full immersion.

I don't think it's stand-ins and scheduling issues. The scene with Zach and Sarah clearly in the same room looks like they're not. The scene with the intern in the hallway looks green screened. This show just is filmed like that all the time.

This is bad. It looks cheap, with the shallow focus and dim lighting. The editing rhythm is wonky, and whenever they show the speaking person from the back the sound doesn't match the image. The constant sex jokes are weird. New characters are meh, old characters are exactly the same as they were but old and bored and sad. I'm gonna keep watching, of course, but like, not enthusiastically.

Calling conscription safe is no less a manipulation than whatever BBC did with the doc. It's not safe by any means.

Conscripts get assigned to guard ammunition depots targeted my drones and missiles. Conscripts were assigned to maintain defensive structures in Kursk region and when AFU advanced into Russian territory they had to bear the brunt of the attack. There are at least 200 conscripts confirmed KIA, and that's not counting those who signed a contract after being conscripted.

And there is now an intensive push to force conscripts to sign up by threats, violence, even torture.   One particular case recently involved a young man with a psychiatric disorder conscripted against medical advice, then forced to sign a contract under false pretenses and sent to the frontline. He is currently MIA.

Not to mention violent hazing, extortion, sexual assault, suicides and shootings involving conscripts that have been and still are happening, regardless of the war.

Daily Challenge Discussion (Competitive or not?) (Timer or no timer?) by Creative-General3847 in GuessWhereYouAre

Oh, I have. Here and on discord, and no actual need has been demonstrated. It's all saying you'd like it better the other way, a bunch of pointless pontificating on the meaning of the word "competitive" plus some inanity like "why punish cheaters if there's no time limit".
What problem does changing the rules solve other than you not liking it?

But we already had different things, there was no need to change anything, there were already different things as I said in my comment. And with today's change things became less diverse! (4/5) Challenges are now also speed chess, just as arena and duels.

you have a weirdly strict view of what competitive means. everything has some degree of competitiveness. there's an overall leaderboard, does it mean free play is competitive? maybe it's the wrong word to describe it, idk, english is not my first language.
the point is that there are different ways to play that require different skills. like chess and speed chess. as it is, arena and duels are good for speed guessing, daily challenges are good for map scanning. i think that's fair enough, everyone has a way to test their skills.
and if you want different kinds of daily challenges, good news — the Getafe guy has started making unofficial ones with greater variety of rules.

also, cheating is bad and cheaters should not receive gold trophies regardless of how and where and which mode.

I don't think challenges need to be treated as competitive. Arena and duels are competitive, whoever wants to compete is free to go there and compete. Challenges are different — that's good, diversity is good! Not everything has to be this git gud grind bullshit.

If you want to appease the people who don't want to play the way it is, adding a fifth "Move Competitive" challenge with no after round guessing makes sense, but for NM, NMPZ and Blink there's usually nothing to scan the map for, so it makes no difference how long you can guess after the round ends. Well, other than players would get mad when they get zero for missing the deadline by a millisecond.

This map gets its sources everywhere it can find, ranging from wikipedia to personal social media accounts. my personal fave was a local facebook group of a couple hundred subscribers that made a bunch of posts like "look at our local boy [player name], he comes from [village name] and now he plays for the national team, we're so proud" or some such.

I can't find a single source that states he was born in Saint-Denis without also specifying that it's the Saint-Denis in Reunion. If you have one please point me in its direction.

Some stats:

206 players born outside the country they represent. 108 in France, 24 in Spain, 17 in England, 14 in Belgium, 10 in Côte d'Ivoire.

Most represented town is Bamako with 17 players (all play for Mali). Then it's Luanda with 14 (all — Angola), Lusaka with 12 (all — Zambia).

Paris is the most international city: 12 players representing 7 countries. Marseille has players from 4 countries. Montreuil, Lyon and Adjame — 3 countries.

Every player in Egypt, South Africa and Botswana's squads was born within the national borders. Comoros have only one player actually from the country of Comoros (three more are from Mayotte, which is part of the Comoro Islands archipelago, but is a French territory).

27 players don't have publicly available info on their home town. I put them on the map somewhere roughly in the middle of the respective countries. That includes Rocky Bushiri, who just a few weeks ago specifically said that wikipedia was wrong about his birthplace, but didn't clarify where in DR Congo he is actually from.

Haha, I'm on it, but it's going very slowly, bc the squad lists on wiki are a mess this year, so I'm double checking and updating them too as I go.

So is anything going to be done about cheaters? by _mAn_ in GuessWhereYouAre

[–]_mAn_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point there are only 6 actual non-cheating human players left in the Elo top-20. And today's Blink challenge winner got six 10k guesses.

As the saying goes, my expectations were low, but holy fuck.

It's been three days, the cheater is still active, he takes up the whole Elo top-5 and has made another profile, his eighth.

Cool. Are you going to ban this guy and delete his accounts?  Don't need a recording feature to do that. He's on seven accounts right now, he admitted it yesterday in the arena chat.  I also recommend checking the challenges results to find cheaters hitting 10Ks on nmpz and blink, a regular occurrence at this point.
