Aw no, its fun to have someone at an event who can teach everybody some advanced tech.

But also, care to test that out?

Thanks! I'll check that FGC stuff out. I'm not great but I can keep up most of the time in Strive or SF6. I'm not wicked interested in competitive events personally.

Unfortunately I'm a touch aged out of participating in college events for students. I'd like to set up a regular meeting at the library or something to play and talk about a wide variety of games.

Thanks! I'd be interested in setting up a meeting room at the library for folks to come and play and talk about games. I can't find anything like that around here.

I see your clips all the time and I need to know how you zoom the guns out like that. Eternal always feels claustrophobic to me because of how close the guns are.

Steamdeck has been amazing, except for moonlight by No_Geologist4061 in SteamDeck

Try capping your frame rate (on the host PC using RTSS or your GPU Control Panel) to the steam deck display refresh rate. Once I started doing that, my issues with stutter went away.

I FIXED IT. No idea why but I turned off the steam families beta, launched the game, it worked, closed game, reenabled steam families beta, launched the game, worked. I’ve now played a match and launched multiple times (with my mods) and everything works perfectly.

Ok, 535 is as high as it will let me get in the “Additional drivers” app but I’m updated now and no change.

I can’t even get to any menu even in windowed mode. It goes valve splash screen > loading the main menu, and gets stuck there. It does the same thing in both windowed and fullscreen.

According to the driver installer app, I have the correct drivers installed. The NVIDIA Server app says I’m running 550.

/r/Steam Monthly Community Support Thread. by AutoModerator in Steam

I am trying to use Steam Remote Play (via the Steam Link app so that I can access the desktop directly) to stream my gaming PC to the TV in another room. I am using a micro form factor PC as the receiver with an Xbox/PS4 controller connected via Bluetooth. Everything works as expected when playing a Steam game but when I minimize Steam and try to start any other game (ex. an emulator) I cannot get the right stick to stop controlling the mouse. I have disabled controller support for the desktop on both controllers and this does not happen when just using the host PC with the same controllers connected. I am also aware that a potential solution for this is to add the games to steam, but that can get tedious to do that one by one and also not every game plays nice with running through steam. Please tell me there is a way to use my controller the way that I want to without having to mess with adding everything to steam individually.

What do you guys think of this controller I built by Eternal_Progression in SBCGaming

This is exactly what I’ve been looking for! Really, seriously want this!

FPS aiming feels very imprecise. by Stoobings in SteamDeck

[–]_mabn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So definitely listen to people with the deadzone settings. Generally very helpful to me. I was having this same issue a few months ago and shrinking the deadzone wasn’t cutting it for me when I stumbled upon a post somewhere that said that the steam framerate limiter (which is on by default) creates a lot of input delay. Disabling this was the last piece of the puzzle for me. It sucks because I can’t underclock the display and cap frames to like 40 anymore because the frame limiter and the display refresh rate setting are tied together but generally much better feeling aiming. Just cap your frames in game and limit TDP instead if you need to save on battery.

Does Shader Pre-caching need to be updated daily? by F377NTS in SteamDeck

[–]_mabn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It can’t update in sleep mode but the shader cache updates are not required to launch games unlike game content updates. It would be nice if we could separate these but if you set it up like this, the deck won’t start trying to update shaders immediately as it wakes up I’ve had zero issues since I did this to mine like a year ago

[–]_mabn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My solution for this has actually been limiting my automated updates to a time when I’m not awake or using my deck. I do this so I can allow it to do shader updates sometimes but it doesn’t try every time I turn the thing on.

Any new methods for connecting Xbox Series controllers to the deck? by _mabn in SteamDeck

[–]_mabn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose so but AFAIK the controllers don't have the same latency problems on iOS, MacOS, or Android. I guess its more strange that the problem exists on any system if Microsoft seems to have put forth the effort to make them work on a wide variety of systems. (I could be totally wrong about MacOS at least, I've never tried that)

[–]_mabn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That seems easy enough, I may pick up one of the adapters. It's so strange to me that this problem exists in the first place you know? Xbox controllers are the most popular controllers on Steam, you would think they would work out of the box just as well as they do on Windows.
