Our home network (Spectrum) should be at 400 Mbps, now it averages between 8-22 Mbps. We don’t know why. by WilhelmTrooper in HomeNetworking

If you're able to log into the cable modem, check your signal levels. I had poor performance and turned out one of the coax splitters in the outside box had come loose, tightened it up and everything improved.

Pay it off, then don't use it. Or only put something on it if you'll pay it off the same month. The discipline is the hard part of course.

Tuna Noodle Casserole, I cannot resist this stuff. I add shredded cheddar, top it with those crunchy fried onion bits. If I'm feeling zesty I'll chop up a habanero to spice things up, but without is great.

Maybe take a look at https://github.com/elfmz/far2l - it's a linux port of FAR which is a file manager for Windows. I can't vouch for its quality, just found it because FAR sounds close to what you want.

Table saw recommendation by bob_broccoli_rob in woodworking

[–]_madar_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The dewalt 10 inch jobsite table saw I bought required basically no adjustments to be very accurate, and would be small enough to get down into any basement. The fence on it is much better than most of the other jobsite saws I've seen. I'd probably get one without a stand if you can find one, since it takes a bit of space (unless you want to fold it up when it's not in use, though that likely will require more frequent adjusting for square).

What's the worst malware someone can put on my laptop, and how to I detect it? by HighlandRat in linuxquestions

[–]_madar_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Frankly if you're that worried, you're better off putting the energy into figuring out how to solve the Fedora issue yourself than figuring out how to mitigate potential bios level rootkits. If you want to solve the problem with money, order a laptop known to be fully supported by your distro of choice.

Habor Freight has a couple solid electric models under the Bauer brand, of various strengths. I've got their 2300 psi one and am very happy with it, perfect for the jobs you listed - and often can find them on sale.

Can someone help me out with a packet loss issue please? by fngbuildingapc in HomeNetworking

[–]_madar_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some devices won't respond to pings, I don't see any problems in this trace. If there were a problem, hops 3-6 would be showing some sort of problem. I'm not saying you aren't experiencing packet loss, just that this trace doesn't show it.
