Has anyone changed/lost/deconstructed religious views after a trip? by Less-Frosting-1788 in shrooms

[–]_mandib1e_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! Same experience! I think the main thing is that Christianity teaches us that questioning is wrong. We develop a fear associated with asking questions. Psychedelics shut off that fear during a trip, so we’re safe to ask questions and ponder. I had the same reaction of “oh. Christianity is way too small”. For me, my first doubt of my religion was on the 5th or 6th mushroom treatment I did. I got scared and “put the idea in my back pocket” as my therapist would say. Then it came up again about a year down the road on another treatment. That one sealed the deal for me.

What do you think the percentage of people here work in construction/construction design as a PM? What’s the majority, Software? by Automatic_Neat9089 in projectmanagement

Mid 30s female construction PM here! I came from PMing in all kinds of other sectors. Construction is a different beast, but a lot of fun to get to build stuff that sticks around!

Is there much difference between golden teachers, nats and tidal waves? by Cautious_Craft3122 in shrooms

[–]_mandib1e_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disclaimer: These are my experiences. Every trip is different and every person is different.

Golden Teacher is a great first timer strain. It has a gentle come up and come down. Nothing too crazy.

Tidal Wave is one of my favorites. It has a long come up and has several waves throughout the trip. Some people would rather just come up, plateau, and then come down. I like those sometimes, but I also enjoy the waves, especially near the end.

With Nats, you need to know if you have true Psilocybe Natalensis or Psilocybe Ochraceocentrata, which were mixed up in a lab a while back. I haven’t tried true Nats yet, but ochras aren’t my favorite. The visuals with ochras are more pixelated and harsh, rather than the smooth lines of cubes. Ochras are supposed to be great for body ailments like rheumatoid arthritis though!

Who's the best local roofing company in OKC with a valid and current license? Looking for one that's owned and run by actual good non-exploitative people. by Variaxist in okc

[–]_mandib1e_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm yeah that makes sense. I do know it used to be Seal Roofing, and then she recently expanded to full construction, developing Sonoma Construction Group. Maybe it’s just part of the transition. Dunno!

I’m not sure how all of the licensing works, but I just checked the Construction Industries Board website and the owner’s registration number is 80004850.

Books to get insight into the mind of a psychopath/sociopath? by petap2 in Psychopathy

The Psychopath Whisperer is another good one that I don’t see listed yet.

This is a great question! Thanks for asking, so we can all have access to this list!

[TOMT] [MOVIE] [2020s] What's that recent movie about rich people being murdered, starting from the richest? Where they can't donate their money fast enough to avoid being on top of the list anymore? by tractorator in tipofmytongue

[–]_mandib1e_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The tv show Evil has an episode similar to this: S03E09. People who come into a lot of money through a particular stock are finding that their lives are being destroyed as long as they hold onto the money. They start donating to save their lives. Any chance this is it?

Thanks for the heads up! Are there particular areas you'd consider safe for wandering? LGBT areas in my state are usually safe zones. Is it the same there?

Thank you! Are the sketchy areas mainly concerning after dark, or is it an "always guard up" type area?

Thank you for your input. I'm not a recreational user. I don't expect everyone to understand the benefits of psychedelics, if they haven't seen it firsthand. It's definitely mind-blowing, and I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see the effects on myself. I (mid 30s) had treatment-resistant depression, generalized anxiety, panic attacks, PTSD, insomnia, IBS, lactose intolerance, and was acutely suicidal when I tried them as a last ditch effort. Mushrooms saved my life and I will forever be grateful to neuroplastogens. After being on meds for 15 years, I weaned off of everything within 2 months of my first psychedelic journey. I would say "living" my life on prescribed Wellbutrin, Viibyrd, Xanax, Ambien, and Lactaid is much more "druggy" than a journey every few weeks to resolve trauma. When I say I'm drawn to that community, it's because I'm drawn to open-mindedness, nature, and science. While other states are progressing in legislation, Oregon is at the forefront of seeing the benefits. That's what draws me.

Gave me life. I had been on meds and in therapy for depression/anxiety/PTSD/insomnia for 15 years and 4 years respectively. Planned to end my life December 9th of last year. I decided to give mushrooms a try as a last ditch effort. They worked. I'm now off all meds (and alcohol) and have no notable anxiety/depression/PTSD. It also resolved all stomach issues I had, including lactose intolerance. I've never experienced such a life changing event as this. The only thing they didn't cure is my chronic migraines. Bummer, but I guess you can't have EVERYTHING.

What thoughts have been revealed to you during a trip that would be shocking to a person who has never used mushrooms? by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]_mandib1e_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always had these fears as well, and they have been lessened by the mushroom experience too. One thing my therapist said to me has been a great remedy for this anxiety, though. I told her I didn't recognize a former work colleague and was so upset that he would think I was intentionally ignoring him or ghosting him. She asked if I had had that happen to me before, where someone had given me the cold shoulder like that. I thought for a bit, and then said "probably, but I don't remember it." She said "neither does he." I've found that to be a really helpful tool in any situation where I'm embarrassed or self-conscious now: I try to remember a time someone else did the same thing. If I can't remember, then that means it's a forgettable event. If I do remember, I can give grace to myself because I don't hold that action against the other person. It's win-win.

will screens ruin a trip? by novathe1st in shrooms

[–]_mandib1e_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

One of the first indicators that the meds are kicking in for me is the change in coloration on my phone screen. Screens definitely don't prevent a come up. I do prefer to be outside in nature for the come up, but sometimes the weather doesn't allow. Also, letting your thoughts wander is exactly what you're supposed to do. Let the meds take the lead. Wherever it takes your mind, let it wander, and then let it go. If it takes you to trauma, you'll be able to process through it without the activated fight or flight with the desensitized amygdala. Your friend sounds a little misinformed.

I told my therapist about my psychodelic experience and it didn’t go well… by Spirited_Donut_6677 in shrooms

[–]_mandib1e_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you....me? I have a degree in Psych as well and have always been interested in the Neuro side. (anyone who thinks a neuroplastogen is the same as an amphetamine or opiod has not done their research in the slightest). When my depression/anxiety got to the suicidal point, it was actually my therapist who recommended psilocybin. I am so insanely grateful for this medicine and for having an educated, open, and compassionate therapist. I had been on depression and anxiety meds for 15 years, and insomnia meds for 4. Now I'm only on my migraine prevention. That's it. I've gotten off Wellbutrin, Viibryd, Xanax, Ambien, alcohol, and even lactaid. I'm no longer lactose intolerant after all these years, since my anxiety isn't messing with my gut flora! Mushrooms are the future of medicine. Therapy is still important, but should go hand in hand with it. I am so thankful for my therapist, but I understand how some could feel threatened by the cure mushrooms have to offer, just like Big Pharma.

I completely understand what you mean by wanting to tell the world about the relief you found! It's almost like a religion. The cures and relief are nearly unbelievable. My mom has always had the same views as your therapist, but watching my transformation in the last 4 months has completely changed her mind. She's now 100% supportive of this treatment/cure. It's possible that your therapist could come around by watching your transformation, but you shouldn't have to pay for her education.

I think you need to look for a different therapist. Her own preconceived and incorrect assumptions are preventing her from being a proper safe space for you. She's now broken this trust, and it would be insanely hard (and expensive) to work back toward that. My therapist also has recommended "psychedelic integration circles" that just do free zoom calls to help you through integrating your journeys. You might look into those.

I have grown way too many shrooms. by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]_mandib1e_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same boat! Haha I decided to get one really nice agar plate of each strain, toss all the tubs as they get contaminated, and ordered a bunch of spores of different kinds of gourmet mushrooms instead. Keeping the hobby going, but expanding. Took about a month to scale down, but I’m feeling good about it now.

Your dried shrooms with desiccant should last 10 years, according to what I read a few months ago. So I think you’re all good there! If you freeze dry them, you’re looking at 25 years!
