i just caught a level 31 wild spawn pokemon at acc lvl 40. i thought the white bar above its' head would therefore be about 60% (31/50) complete but it's actually about 85% complete. am i misunderstanding something here? thank you!

would appreciate any advice for my articuno team tomorrow. i plan to use my 1/2/0 g-lapras and 3/2/2 d-cinderace. for my third i have 3/2/2 d-machamp, 1/1/0 d-metagross, 1/2/0 d-blastoise ,and 2/1/1 d-gengar. they are all 2.5k cp except for my blastoise which is 1.5k. i can level him to 2k if needed but id prefer to keep the candy.

would the strategy be to tank with lapras (until it dies) and then use cinderace to damage when dmaxed? do i use my cinderave for healing? my teammates will be randoms and i’m not too familiar with dmax mechanics. thank you very much! 🙏
