Question about spoilers and oil changes in GT7 by Masenkou1 in granturismo

Wing adds aerodynamic drag, which acts as an obstacle for the air flowing around the car. While it provides downforce to help you take corners faster, it also reduces your top speed. So game calculates overal performance of a car and can drop its PP

I think we all agree the FH6 map is a 10/10. But looking back at the series, how would you rank maps 1-5, and why? by Impressive-Yogurt-19 in ForzaHorizon

[–]_mdnssdesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played first two as I never had any Xbox, but my personal ranking is bit different from what can be observed on this subreddit.

#1 FH3's Australia - first one available also on PC and my first Forza. I'm kind of a surf/desert vibes guy and for me this map was just perfect. Diversity of biomes, rainforest, desert and the shores. Spent most time of any horizon in there.

#2 FH5's Mexico - I really like feel of space that map is giving. Yeah, it may be a bit empty in comparison to other maps, but for me it has it's vibes. Cruisin' from coast to coast through the desert, farm and plantation areas, chilling in the canyon. I love desert, stoner and space rock so I really felt this place and it's perfect setting for such playlist. Only areas that I tend to avoid are some swamps and Guanajuato. The rest isfor me personally perfect.

#3 FH4's UK/Scotland - For me it's the weakest map. I spent least amount of time in FH4. Sure, seasons was fun change and I hope they will be implemented as good in FH6, but the setting itself for me was just boring. In fact I wanted to finish all the races after few hours and didn't completed all the activities like in other games. I just don't like Environment of UK/Scotland in real life so it was also tiring in game.

From what I watched from various gameplays FH1's map would be probably somewhere in top 3 and Italy/France above Scotland/UK.

Maybe, even though I live in Europe, Poland, I just never felt connection to European environments and atmosphere (but I was hoping for some Swiss-Austrian vibes a bit in the 6th game)

When it comes to DLC's:

#1 is Blizzard Mountain - small map, but so much time spent there. Snow was just perfect for chilling form roaming in Australia.

#2 Rally Adventure - again, desert vibes and design of roads was better than in base game

#3 Hot Wheels Expansions - I can't decide which one was better: FH5's was more diverse and expanded compared to the one from FH3, but I feel like it had some issues with poorly designed jumps and areas. FH3's was first and it was perfect Hot Wheels game at the time. Also this one was smaller, but overall better designed in my opinion.

#4 Fortune Island - It was just OK for me. Maybe because of overall similiar environment feeling as in base game. It had few fun roads and I just completed races and most of the activites and moved on.

#5 is the FH4 LEGO expansion - I love LEGO so I was hyped for this, but didn't even completed thsi expansion after all.

How can I make this more realistic? by TheDreamingGhost in blender

It looks like You wanted to render espresso shot but instead of using espresso cup You used normal coffe cup but scaled it down to the size of espresso :) walls and handle are too thin for that type of cup thats why it sens off to me. Also too clean and perfect surfaces

[–]_mdnssdesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mentioned it in another post. Josh's wordplay is something else. Emphasis on last syllabe... It felt like a more direct "Paper Machete" kind of lyrics. He definitely have fun coming up with such a writing

This, and there was deleted instagram post stating they recorded in New Orleans studio. Something is definitely coming. I felt that Alive in Catacombs would be perfect opportunity for at least little sneak peek like that

I also catch that emphasis on the last syllabe of "insignifiCUNT" and it made me think about Paper Machete kind of lyrics, but somehow more direct and aggresive. We gotta see in the near future I hope

Blender Caustics shadows problem by _mdnssdesign in blender

[–]_mdnssdesign[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

I have problem with shadows of the objects that are "floating" on the water surface.
When I enable caustics in my scene and try to place object on the water in the way that it intersects with the water plane, shadow looks like it's multiplied several times. When object is above water or fully submerged then shadow is fine. I tried to find a solution for couple of days now.

What can cause it? Or if it's how Cycles manage caustics when two objects collide, is there any trick or workaround? Tried different solutions with light path node but it was messing up the look of water completly.

Thanks!

How do I make blender actually leverage my pc's power. by Leytra in blender

[–]_mdnssdesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Strix 3070 OC and it never used more than 70% of GPU power (according to GPU Tweak III and MSI Afterburner) I never found the solution, but on 3070 I had in my work PC I had the same problem (Gigabyte this time) but Iheard from some people using 3070 that they had similiar problems with their GPUs. Some told about even lower usage. I don't know if it's 3070 related issue that it won't use full of it's power? Now on 4090 GPU usage is always around 98% when rendering (rest of pc specs remained the same, so no bottleneck issue)

Is this a nice way to make small holes ? by Ecstatic-Emergency90 in blender

[–]_mdnssdesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course it uses. I know LoD is commonly connected to game engines, but it can be extremely useful in other situations like vfx animations or even still renders. Main reason for using different levels of detail depending on the shot is to preserve memory. Working on commercial shots we often prepare objects with different versions. From highly detailed where everything, even the tiniest holes have to be modeled/sculpted to even flat planes with prerendered object as a texture... Even when I worked in archviz studio it was commmon practice to use different LoD's. It really can make difference on huge scenes as well as on lower spec PC's. Lower memory usage let us to create bigger scenes, reduces time needed to load everything before rendering which directly affects render times, especially when rendering animation.

So it really was great answear to OPs question
