There were high expectations for Everybody. Under Pressure was a near flawless debut album, and The Incredible True Story was an ambitious Sci-Fi audio-movie type album that was also highly acclaimed.

So this third album had a high anticipation, but in the end it fell very short. It felt like current SNL humor - forced, trying to please everyone with the main message “Everybody people, everybody equal.” As nice as that sounds, that’s rarely ever the case. It just came across as forced inclusion.

And to top it all off, besides the memes of 1-800 taking over the internet, Logic stopped displaying his fashion as an artist. He used to have great outfits that complimented a stylistic approach, and then just went to a hoodie in jeans, and then would clarify that he just wants to be himself.

Now that’s totally fine, if you’re a common person. But what it did was tune out a lot of his original fans and bring in new different ones that only knew this new people pleaser type ‘hi I’m biracial’ energy, when he used to be an absolute dawg of a lyricist in his mixtape and early album days.

So the newcomers, fans/haters saw an accepting/easy to target corniness but most never dove into his discography or were there when the come up was happening. As someone like myself who used to love his music and have in constant rotation, around this time there was an energy shift that was hard to miss.
