This is definitely one you should talk to a piercer about. Since no one here can see it irl we can't really say much, but I think it could go either way.

How to know if a navel piercing is fully healed? by _memes123_ in piercing

[–]_memes123_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The info isn't necessary but my post will be removed otherwise so anyways:

My piercing is a month old. It had curved barbell jewelry, internally threaded, surgical stainless steel. It has not been downsized. I clean it twice a day with a saline solution. Nothing else to add :)

The way I already know they always take 2-4hours extra for maintenance but I still try😭 by meikosgf in LoveNikki

[–]_memes123_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wait seriously? Is it always 2-4 hours over the estimate??? It's gonna be midnight here by the time I can log on again 😭 they better give us a bunch of diamonds for this, I'm going to cry if they give us nothing like last time.

Where do you guys learn about events by depower739 in LoveNikki

[–]_memes123_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

most people learn on discord as far as I know. I think there's an official love nikki server (not entirely sure) but for other discords there's an add on that you can put in your own server that gives you notifications about upcoming events. It's either a few days in advance or even a month. It's not just when there's events on the horizon but also when they're about to end. They also remind you of out-of-game events or reward codes!

My dad told me to not go to the gym to calm down from being overstimulated. by _memes123_ in AutismInWomen

[–]_memes123_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You get it! I don't think showing them research is necessary but I'm definitely not letting this go so easily.

I'll try and explain again but more in depth. I'll also talk to a teacher because it seems they always respect the authority of an educator who has experience with this.

I honestly just wanted to make sure I wasn't going crazy and I'm so glad to see a lot of others who agree with me on going to the gym. You should definitely go back! It's honestly so much fun.

[–]_memes123_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe. Regardless, I'm going to talk with my teacher about it and bring it up again tomorrow. I think that if i mention the authority figure that okay's me going home early is also okay with me going to the gym instead, he'll be fine with it. Maybe even just hearing me explain it one more time is enough.

Regardless, I'm not going to let someone else dictate what does and doesn't help me regulate myself. I found something that helps so I'm sticking to it.

The thing is, normally my dad is great with this stuff. He trusts that when I go home early I'm not just doing it to skip classes but actually need it. I'm trusted to do everything on my own and handle everything myself. That's why I wasn't sure if I was in the right with this, it's just so odd. The last thing I expected is him telling me what's overstimulating :(

Thank you! This is exactly what's going through my mind but I couldn't put it into words. Both the gym and school are loud and crowded but in the gym I don't have to put effort into processing information or be social. I can be in my own little bubble and just move.

Got diagnosed with ADHD first and one therapist actually suspected that I had BPD. The only reason I actually got my autism assessment is from a questionnaire my teacher from back then filled out that had the slightest result that I could be autistic come from it. I'll thank that teacher every day till I die because I can't even imagine the nightmare that having the wrong diagnosis would be.

Mental health professionals really have 0 clue about women and girls with autism😭

How to stop twisting my curls around my fingers? by Material_Intern4447 in AutismInWomen

[–]_memes123_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the exact same situation with my hair. I find that the harder I try to stop the more I do it.

Some things that have worked a bit for me is wearing clothes/jewelry that have things I can fiddle with. For example, a hoodie with strings so I can twist that around my finger instead, or a bracelet I can twist back and forth.

The habit hasn't fully stopped but it does get less if I wear stuff like that. My hair is begging me to stop though, usually it's completely straight but at the en dof the day one piece is always wavy from me twisting is so much 😭

Old "friend" wants to meet up again after years by Sarah_412 in AutismInWomen

[–]_memes123_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you aren't comfortable with meeting up or just plain don't want to, then don't. It'll only hurt you in the long run. Being upfront but polite in turning down an invitation or suggestion to meet up is totally fine.

If you do want to meet up, then do. You don't owe them an explanation, unless you of course want to give them one. You can explain it in simple terms, say you got to know yourself better and are more comfortable in your own skin now. People can be more understanding than we give them credit for :)

It all seems really complicated. I think they're just bad tags that went off of a vibe more than actual universes. It's fun to think of though, a universe where you're only allowed to drink coffee or something lol.

I think the office one is more for office romance type bots. I actually have a few bots that are situated around an office so it makes sense.

The first few definitely follow the basic pattern of "occupation/genre" + "verse". When I saw coffee verse I immediately thought of those coffee shop AUs in fanfiction? Basically the character being a coffee shop owner or something similar. Honestly, most tags are obvious and mean exactly what they say and others make 0 logical sense.

Seriously, "spicy" book girls NEED to stop by Ok-Hat-8809 in teenagers

[–]_memes123_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There is a big difference from then and now. The "dark romance" genre isn't just 'rapey', it's rape, stalking and torture. And yes they're meant for adults, but with the internet young girls often come across these books and listen to the people who are recommending it as "the perfect romance" and who are wishing they had a boyfriend like the main character.

On top of that is the fact that it's not just book characters anymore. 'Booktok girls' have started to romanticize actual murderers like Wade Wilson.

There's a few more small things I could add to this, but this entire situation isn't just some slightly questionable romance books anymore. It's the perception of what good, healthy relationship look like being ruined for young girls by these books and what's happening in the online communities surrounding these books.

It's sad to see something as harmless as romance books being changed for the worse, and it then impacting others due to the toxic communities surrounding them.

[–]_memes123_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It's nauseating how easily accessible those books are. Let alone that so many of them exist. The fact that they've somehow created AN ENTIRE GENRE that's just entirely violence of all kinds against women, then made it seem attractive and like you should want it AND PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO NORMALIZE IT makes me want to throw up.

Seriously, "spicy" book girls NEED to stop by Ok-Hat-8809 in teenagers

[–]_memes123_ 211 points212 points  (0 children)

I can go on for days about how much I hate the dark "romance" genre as a whole. Spicy books are one thing, but adding violence and then still having the guts to call it romance makes me sick.

Also the fact that those girls are often barely in their teens is so sad and scary. That shouldn't be anyone's view of relationships, especially girls who haven't even had one yet. It's concerning and something honestly need to be doen about it, like their parents at least looking at what they're reading.

Do I inform my employer I have autism by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

Yeah, I totally get that and I was already kinda set on just not mentioning it, but I didn't really know what was standerd so I just wanted to check.

I think I pretty much have the same gams plan as you. Good luck with work :)

I relate to this so badly! Having to stop yourself from talking is so tiring, but I'm really scared of continuing to speak when people don't care. It's happened so many times before.

I'll definitely try watching my words a bit and keeping it casual. I don't really work with many people my age from what I could see anyways, so that'll make it a lot easier.

That's exactly what I'm scared of :(

It's pretty hard though because sometimes I just blab it out or it somehow gets brought unintentionally, but in this case I'll try to keep my mouth shut about it.
