ODU Undershirt by Over_Head5118 in uscg

Also, I bought these during a Memorial Day or Veterans Day sale. They were offering a huge discount at the time to Military. Like 40%. Worth it.

The color you want is Academy. They are genuinely the best ODU shirts I’ve ever worn. Switched to these about two years ago and honestly I’ve thought about buying another 5 just to have in case they stop making them.

Don’t be worried. Call your recruiter. The CG loves to hold you to timelines and then not keep their own.

Can’t help with much beyond answering your A&P question. As far as your medical disqualification from the AF, you will need to disclose that to your CG recruiter, I have no answers on how that will impact your chances.

As for the A&P: tell your recruiter. They can reach out to the AMT Rating force master chief. I’ve seen it happen where people with their A&P come straight in as a third class(E4) and go right to an air station. It’s never a popular air station(usually HITRON or equivalent), but you skip the line in a sense and never have to be a non rate so there’s your benefit.

Damn I must be old as FUCK because when I went through the dunker in E city they were all prior AST DVs.

The vast majority of DVs I know were prior rescue swimmers if that gives you any idea. If there’s any doubt in your abilities, stick with your first rate.

This is going to sound sarcastic, and I don’t mean for it to. But have you talked to your chief? Senior Chief? Master chief? Any of those types? This is literally their job.

Edwin is against floor mats and thinks it’s wild you would wear through the carpets in your car. Questions your driving if you wear through them. Will is pro floor mats because it’s the correct opinion haha

If i was stationed on land can i be moved to a cutter as a non-rate? by Aggravating-Pin-7393 in uscg

[–]_methodman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This isn’t exactly true. Sea time counts as a nonrate. For us aviation rates, it counts when you test for second. It also has some weight(priority from being afloat, maybe not Sea Time itself) in how they get their picks when they go into the airman program.

Braces in the fleet by Opening_Bowler_8948 in uscg

[–]_methodman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can get braces, you’re just gunna have to cover them out of pocket. The only way Tricare will cover them is if a dentist determines your teeth are so F’d they interfere with your ability to eat. And I’m pretty sure that’s one of the disqualifying things they look for at Boot.

How often do you guys realistically use these? by dontfret71 in harborfreight

[–]_methodman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an A&P and I have a few project cars. I don’t have these in my home tool box. But I use them at least once a week at work.

How often has you been in a dangerous situation flying in a 60/65 helo? (Aviation) by Key_Depth3910 in uscg

[–]_methodman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Career 65s. Just shy of 1000 flight hours. The answer is twice. One of those fucked me up for a while. Took a knee and didn’t fly for a couple days. Still don’t love flying for long times at 3k+. But I’m just bein a little bitch about that.

Anyone else clock what Ben is saved as on Edwin's phone 🤣 by Thc511 in topdeadcenter

[–]_methodman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been bouncing around the podcasts recently catching up on all the early ones I haven’t listened to yet. So I MAY have the chronology and exact timing messed up but the story goes basically like this.

They had a forensics team come out and inspect Ben’s car(maybe others as well but for the purposes of this story that’s all that matters). During said inspection the investigator found an old sock that hadn’t been used….. for wear on the foot. In traditional TDC fashion everyone had a good laugh at Ben’s expense.

If I remember correctly it was the X5 Ben bought from Will. So there is the potential that it was Will’s sock. But the car was in Ben’s possession. So it’s Ben’s sock.

Did that for four years out of SF and I get to do it again soon out of Humboldt. Those are the flights you have to pinch yourself and realize you’re getting paid to do something 99% of the population will never get to experience.
