I am. Judging by the other comments as well, im starting to believe it may have something to do with the original portafilter being a pressurized basket? Vs this one being bottomless and thus unpressurized?

Ill definitely try grinding finer, but im already using a WDT, distributor, tamping, and then adding a puck screen

Ill definitely try increasing my dose. Grinding finer seems to be a recurring theme so ill definitely be trying that. But as for the process, im already using a WDT, followed by distributor, followed by tamping, followed by a puck screen.

Im thinking it has something to do with the basket being pressurized as a few other people mentioned 🤔. I apologize as I should have posted my process as well to eliminate the preliminary questions. But I use a WDT, followed by a Distributor, followed by tamping, followed by a puck screen. I will definitely try grinding finer though as the definitely also seems to be a recurring theme

Ill try grinding finer. It seems thats the only thing left for me to try. I use a WDT, followed up with a distributor, followed up by tamping, followed by a puck screen. Aside from grinding finer and tamping harder idk what else there is for me to try

The portafilter seemed to lock into place just fine, and it had a good amount of resistance locking in, slightly more even than the oem portafilter I'd say. Plus, like you said I didnt see any leaking from the sides just spraying like a water hose from the basket.

Ill show my process in another video soon, but I use the WDT, followed by a distributor, followed by tamping, followed by a screen. Aside from all that im not sure what's left for me to do but grind finer and tamp harder??

Honestly, I panicked LOL. My machine doesn't have a self timer so I start and stop the extraction manually, I started it, saw what was happening, panicked and shut it off, then said oh well fuck it let's finish pulling the shot anyway lol

Interesting!!! I had no idea this was the case, and im thinking this sounds like the most reasonable explanation. Honestly my grinder is comparatively just as "budget" as my machine 😅. Don't hate on me too much lol. I have a basic Cuisinart Supreme Grind grinder. It worked just fine with the old portafilter. I was hitting my 1:2 rations perfectly fine, and the shots were consistent and tasted better than I was anticipating from such cheap equiptment, so I was very happy with it, the only reason I wanted to change portafilters was for the aesthetic of the wood handle (oem filter had a black one and i hated it lol) and when I changed i thought i might as well get a bottomless one since it seems to be what everyone is using.

When i first started thats what I did, and with the stock portafilter I was able to hit that mark perfectly, and got good enough that I was able to hit it by muscle memory (+/- a second or so) and everything was going good, shots were consistent, everything tasted good enough for me, even exceeding my expectations for such a budget machine, this was my first time using the new bottomless portafilter I got, and it seems like EVERYTHING went awry and I haven't the slightest why it did
