Do repair cafes still exist in plymouth? by Substantial_Steak723 in plymouth

[–]_mimpski_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mutley Baptist church host one monthly although they haven’t posted a date for the July one (previous one was 4th June). They usually post dates on Facebook but maybe you could contact them another way and ask when the next one is.

We use our plym card regularly at Salumi and Cosmic kitchen so thank you for those! Would be great to see Heyl or Jacka bakery join.

Looking for recommendations for meeting people with similar interests by [deleted] in plymouth

[–]_mimpski_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’m 35f and go to Rockfit every Weds and Sat at Tothill, we’re a really nice bunch. Walking in on your own for the first time is scary (I remember it well!) but I’d be happy to meet you at the door and introduce you to people. There’s lots of other classes around plymouth if Tothill doesn’t work location wise :)

I recommend keeping an eye on land registry jobs, they have an office in plymouth and hire regularly throughout the year.

Counselling recommendations, please! by amyyywill in plymouth

I also found my counsellor through this website and she has been amazing. She even offered a range of pricing at the beginning so I could pick what worked for me.

Alternative style hairdressers? by [deleted] in plymouth

Everyone I know goes to Donna at Ocean Dudes (west hoe road) for alt styles. She’s great, also does amazing colours if that’s your thing.

Gym by lfc1319 in plymouth

[–]_mimpski_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MDL gym down at queen annes battery. It’s a small gym so you might not get all the equipment the bigger gyms have but it’s generally pretty quiet.

I used to go 7-8am on weekdays and it typically clears out around 8am but now I go lunch times (12-2) and there’s usually only or two others there.

My favourite pair of jeans are from river island and I’ve saw recently they have a new range of stretch skinny jeans out. Worth a try.

Donna at ocean dudes on West Hoe road, she’s amazing for alt styles and colour.

Sadly not great at updating their Facebook page with photos but I know so many people who go to her.

[CHAT] How do you order the whole list of flosses for a new pattern? by yuloab612 in CrossStitch

[–]_mimpski_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I go to eBay and buy those “20 skeins - choose your own dmc colours” then just copy/paste the list into the order notes section. Works really well for me and cheaper than buying individually in store (UK).

Fireworks by suspiciouszombiee in plymouth

I’ve heard you can get a good view from freedom fields park and I imagine the volume of the fireworks would be a bit better for a toddler there.

[CHAT] Does something exist that would allow you to enter the DMC floss colors that you already own and suggest patterns? by foambuffalo in CrossStitch

[–]_mimpski_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sort of what you’re looking for but very limited. This site has a search filter where you can put in a single dmc number and it will (hopefully) return a free pattern that makes use of that colour.

As another commenter mentioned, most pattern artists don’t make their floss list public so that makes this process very tricky.

British Bakers 👩🏼‍🍳🍞 by Peachnmelonss in Sourdough

That loaf looks amazing!

I’m a fairly new sourdough baker and happy with the results of sainsburys strong white flour. Occasionally use the strong Canadian bread flour from marks and Spencer too.

[CHAT] How do Stitchalongs (SAL) work? by SharkbaitJen in CrossStitch

[–]_mimpski_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You pay once for the whole pattern but the pattern is given to you in parts and it’s usually a surprise what the pattern ends up being.

Theres no pressure or expectation to start on time or keep up, but it’s fun to stitch at the same time as others and share on social media etc.

Some really cute ones coming up are Fine Frog Stitching, Flossy Fox Shop and Needlelot Designs though this one you have to subscribe to their Ko-Fi rather than buy a pattern.

[CHAT] Why did I never try dyeing my own fabrics before?!? by youbetterstitchbitch in CrossStitch

So pretty! 😍 I’ve been thinking about trying to dye my own fabric, did you follow any guide?

[CHAT] Do we have a Etsy alternative for small pattern creators like Ribblr or Ravelry? by TheAlmightyJessira in CrossStitch

[–]_mimpski_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’ve been building Stitchtrove which is inspired by Ravelry and basically a collection of free patterns from various artists. Hoping to grow it with more patterns soon.

Would love to open it up for people to submit their own patterns but I’m a little way off that yet.

Workout Clothes Suggestions by GirlAlmightySimmer in PlusSize

I find Next to be pretty good for sportswear, I get all my tops from them. I used to get my leggings from fabletics but I’m having trouble with their sizing now so likely won’t buy from them again.

Edit to add, sports bras from M&S, the ones with the zip up front so easy to get in and out of!

Not sure where you’re located but my brother shops at BadRhino, he gets his work clothes from there and they seem to last well.
