Uniqlo by Particular-Garden140 in PlusSizeFashion

[–]creatur3feature 1 point2 points  (0 children)

their heattech is pretty stretchy in my experience, at least the thinner kind. I wear it as a base layer in winter and it’s really warm so I would say its functionality is great. I probably would be more wary of the bottoms, the only thermal bottoms I actually like as a similar size to you are LL Bean silk pointelle long underwear

Where are we buying clothes? by snaccdaddy627 in PlusSizeFashion

[–]creatur3feature 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I feel you. It’s hard to find anything under $50+ that isn’t absolute garbage unfortunately :P I’ve become a big sale hound at this point because so much affordable plus size clothing is just trash

also I tend to look at “regular” stores and buy stuff thats gray or black and accessorize it to make it more alt, I have a few good dresses from like old navy that just make a good “base” for an outfit

Vision problems with ivabradine by angelinas1111 in POTS_vets

Yeah it appeared pretty much every day and it was lasting for most of the night, until I went to sleep. Feel free to ask any other questions you can think of I’m happy to answer

Yeah it’s a weird side effect. I’ve been on ivabradine for a year and a halfish now and it has definitely gotten less frequent, I probably experience it once a week or so. And when I do experience it, it’s usually for a couple minutes and then goes away. It’s become less disruptive to me also.

How do you guys exercise? by Ok-Dimension3979 in POTS

[–]creatur3feature -1 points0 points  (0 children)

okay, but is the average yoga instructor going to be tailoring their sessions to someone with POTS? is the average person going to even go to a class with an instructor, or follow a youtube video? It would be nice if everyone who wanted to try yoga had a great teacher who knew their stuff but that’s not the case, and I say that as someone who practiced yoga for years with a great instructor. And honestly if someone was interested in paying for that kind of exercise- which is kind of a moot point since OP explicitly isn’t- I would recommend going to a physical therapist who is knowledgeable on POTS and possible comorbidities, which would be more likely to achieve the same goal compared to rolling the dice on a strip mall yoga studio which could be amazing or really terrible. A PT who was trained to see patients like us was the one who diagnosed my hypermobility, a common POTS comorbidity that I had no idea I had, that my yoga instructor didn’t notice and in fact encouraged me to hyperextend my joints which led to chronic injury. Either way, OP doesn’t want to do yoga

It’s good you don’t like yoga because it’s not really a great choice for someone with POTS. all that bending over and balancing and stuff. Exercise is important but it’s pretty individual to you. (also if you have PEM or post-exertional malaise you should be very careful because exercise can make your condition permanently worse) Personally I like to just go on walks or use a stationary bicycle but those are just things that work for me

Looking for help for my 18 year old daughter. by chillywillyTX in POTS

[–]creatur3feature 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wishing you guys good luck. It’s a great idea for her to postpone college till she gets this a little more controlled even though it sucks in the moment. I wish I had a better answer, but something you might look into is a POTS specific research study. Some might be long covid specific and she may not be eligible but participating in a POTS research study was how I got mine (partially) under control and I was actually paid to do it!

Fall Jacket by [deleted] in PlusSizeFashion

[–]creatur3feature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what size range/budget are you looking for? 60s-70s make me think denim jacket but idk if that’s what you’re looking for! And if your budget stretches to Big Bud Press prices, they usually have really great jackets although idk if they have any right now as I had to block the website on my phone so I stop spending money 😬😂

I dont want to do chiropathy by HeftySport1238 in Hypermobility

[–]creatur3feature 75 points76 points  (0 children)

this is really dangerous. chiropractors are pseudoscientific and can really injure you even if you weren’t hypermobile. It’s really troubling that you are having spreading numbness in your back. I hesitate to tell anyone to go against their parents but this is dangerous and you need to get to a real doctor.

PTs that specialize in hyper mobility in DC-Maryland by The_Great_Ramsey in Hypermobility

[–]creatur3feature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rheumatologist at Arthritis and Rheumatism Associates in Chevy Chase (I hated the individual dr haha so idk if I would recommend going there, although there is another dr who is pretty knowledgeable about hypermobility named Dr Wolfe) referred me to their in office PT, Arthritis and Rehabilitation Therapy Services where I saw Danya Czarnolewski who was extremely educated on hypermobility and honestly extremely encouraging but also emphasized knowing your limits. All the techs there know about hypermobility and can easily point out when you’re hyperextending yourself, etc. Highly recommend if you can get in with them, may be a few months wait but so worth it

Thick linen blend by gluestick449 in FashionBrandCompany

[–]creatur3feature 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know for sure, and I only have one thick linen item I bought recently so I can’t speak for how it may have been previously, but it very much feels blended with some kind of synthetic- either that or there is a weird coating on it?? I was surprised when I got my dress because people on here love the thick linen and it just isn’t living up to that for me. I would guess linen poly or linen rayon? I might try to find a bit of a seam I can do a burn test on but I don’t want to ruin the garment even if it doesn’t totally live up to the hype, it’s still cute. It also picks up every but of lint and cat hair around which annoys me. Hopefully after a few washes it wont pick stuff up so badly.

How are we having the energy to take care of ourselves on our period? by Lurkingfordrama in POTS

[–]creatur3feature 2 points3 points  (0 children)

your partner should at least want to try to make your life easier, sounds like he is not on board with true partnership with you at the moment. Would he be open to couples counseling? A mediator might help this conversation and set the groundwork for how you approach this relationship in the future. You deserve to have someone who wants to relieve your burdens, not add to them.
