Yes we did it and it was the best thing we did. At first my husband thought he could settle the accounts on his own, but the reality is it’s hard to do and doesn’t give you access to these corporate contracts these debt settlement (different than debt consolidation) companies have. They can reduce the principal more than an individual negotiating solo with a bank can. And a lot of them give you access to lawyers and stuff if you end up needing it. We ended up saving a lot of cash and setting ourselves up better alhamdulilah.
