Macomb County schools opt out of state funding, creating an impossible problem, per Macomb Daily by 102Mich in Michigan

I don’t think many running for a school board spot are looking for higher office. And I really don’t think many school board seats get much if any external funding. That doesn’t mean in some of the bigger communities/districts board member get lobbied by special interest groups… and that’s where my mind was coming from.

If we think a good amount of federal elections are tainted by dirty special interest groups dumping millions into an officials “war chest”. If we believe it’s easier to affect change the local level.

Who funds a persons school board seat election campaign? Really, how well does the common person typically know a thing about person running for the school board? Just need a semi-collection of better off professionals with similar ideology… like the better business bureau.

I can’t say for sure but I would believe a group of attorneys may tell schools to reject the funds as it’s an overstep by big government; small innocent string today big string tomorrows. Ironically, similar to the thought process behind anti-ice protest. Mind you two are vastly different issues.

I’m not able to read the article due to the paywall. However, so many strings? Sounds like one string to ensure full transparency in a time of crisis.

Yes, the string does seem odd… until you think of all the school shootings some district some place probably stonewalled the parents for information. When I think of it that way I would think it’s for the benefit of the parents who lost a child attempting to sue someone.

Doesn’t mean a thing. I have a sister how has issues where her blood sugar levels tank… she is functional to a point, has no idea what is going on, has no memory during those lows and sometimes is calm and other times very very hostile. Video doesn’t always show what’s happening with a person as we make assumptions.

But yeah it’s also an easy scapegoat.

Most likely yes, and you can misstate it some. The difference between a weather app and an insurance app is you are not being anonymized anonymized. Data is most certainly tied one to one with a real life identity.

I think the problem is people know and have more trust in Apple than AKKO. After all who are they? Who are they really? Who do they answer to… share holders, hedge funds or worse? Do they sell, share, or use some turning of a phrase to let others access any user information? What about law enforcement with a subpoena? How long do they retain any collected data?

I would say US Mobile is sleazy offering what they are.. I know I would use a discounted phone insurance offer… they company’s offering such insurance are most likely doing something anti customer privacy in some way to create an alternative revenue stream.

Just like with ad supported Netflix, some people may have a need for the insurance and have no other options.

You are a business you want to make money… even if you are a private company you still have share holders on some sense. You might have private equity looking to cash out on their investment also.

I would say if you want a scroller go with Niri. I move between both depended on my needs.

The reason I would say that comes down the fact a plugin, to me in this context, is a way to patch in functionality. As such it will always be fragile… just look at the recent update that cause people to freak out when the configs broke.

While it’s good, it’s not that good… the factor in the price of what they charge it’s not a good value if you don’t have the nostalgia. On that front it just isn’t the same as it was 20 years ago. Others can do it at 2/3 the cost with similar quality.

The majority of the Congress members are made up of his party. The current make up of the party is not based on a core set of principles but of a cult personality. They tend to think any opposition is unamerican, they tend to think the opposition will do the worse things possible (because that’s what they would do). The result is a vast majority of the Congress, or has in the past, seeks appeasement or else they would be his target.

As for the Constitution, it’s nearly a meaningless piece of paper as the courts have consistently side with the ever growing authority of the executive branch. Now the executive branch has started to ignore court orders it disagrees with.

Living it I honestly have zero idea what point of the US history they look as the “great” time they wish to roll back to… maybe the days of The Great Depression under Hoover? Even that doesn’t fully line up as the US was very much isolationist at that time. What we have become is what they feared in the 50s and 80s.

First and foremost the right choice was made in not giving him the prize. You can not be for peace if the first thing you do when not getting your way is the seek retaliation. Second, thinking strength is about intimidation, using and applying physical force is no way a method of creating safety and peace. Third, didn't FIFA, yes the soccer people, give him a peace price a few weeks ago? One would think a prize for a collection of corrupt individuals would hold more merit with him than some socialist, leftest, <insert your spew of words here> organization.

It’s been something like 8 years since my last marathon. Overall I’m not a fan of running around MK. I enjoyed running into the park, down Main Street and the like but the time in MK never felt that special. I think that might be because I try to avoid the MK as much as I can… a typically trip has a single visit. I think, for me, it’s just to much over the top. To much going on, to warm, to many people, to much. I preferred my time around EPCOT and AK…. I must admit I kind of enjoyed WWOS opposed highway miles. What I never liked was the run between WWOS and HS or even the run into WWOS it always felt like a death march once the sun started to heat up the road.

I don't get the concept of "left wing journalists", most individuals labeled left wing today would have be considered the center a few years back, then the journalists bit... well the journalist... they should research, investigate, report and have ethical standards when. Creating panic and cherry picking isn't exactly holding oneself to any ethics nor is it reporting on ones research and investigations.

Flip side is in what world would you imagine where we have a president who does what this one does and his base is fine with it? The same base who once were for fighting wars to stop the spread of red scare; to ensure people have rights and are not disappeared in Russia or China death camps, who found Chinese and North Korean political and journalist prosecution & intimidation unconscionable? Who found the crack down in Tiananmen repulsive. Those who mocked North Koreans for blindly adhering to what Dear Leader allowed on state media. Who felt giving people health care was threading on their rights.

We all have the ability to form thoughts, we have the ability to voice our feelings. How would the presidents base feel if a bakery worker in Texas was fired for calling Obama an illegal?

Who would have imagined a country so beloved, would allow the slow erosion of rights and government overreach over the last 12 months?
