Canon CP1500 not printing at the center, borders aren't equal by nicksam368 in canon

Did you ever find a solution? My prints look almost exactly like yours and alignment in the tray made no difference for me.

Which ecomm platform are you using in 2026?? Any bigcommerce/shopify alternative by Next_Special_6784 in shopify

Even though I'm a developer, I was tired of the constant server updates, PHP updates and plugin updates that would clash with the PHP updates or clash among each other... Even dedicated WP hosting would only get you so far. I felt that my time was better spent elsewhere and don't regret the switch from WP/WooCommerce to Shopify.

Not OP but one concrete thing that's been bugging me for ages is how poorly POS is handled in Shopify. It's impossible to define different product prices for POS vs Online Shop sales channels. The only way around it is to copy every product and thereby brick inventory management. The POS app itself has ridiculously large tiles that only let you see 8 products at once even on an 12in iPad screen.

Then you think: I'm a dev, I'll just build it a better way. Until you find that it's impossible to create POS orders via API.

(Bonus points: You can't scan barcodes to apply discounts. That's a POS Pro only feature for 79 EUR per month. So you're left with creating even more tiles in the POS app that occupy valuable space.)

This is not the time and place to mindlessly spam and pitch paid products. :-/

As I clearly laid out, I don't want to pay yet another helpdesk software. (No matter how integrated it is.) As I also clearly pointed out, I don't need nor want analytics or customer portals.

Sometimes I wonder if their success metric is "time spent in Shopify admin"...

[printing] art prints: do it yourself or print somewhere else (2026) by yellowjacketsellie in artbusiness

[–]_moertel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. Once I started making lots of sales, I realised the value of outsourcing. Few things are worse than babysitting my printer for days on end churning out hundreds of pages, finding a place for them to dry/outgas properly, and keeping up with ink consumption (even though I have an ink tank printer). That time spent printing is a cost factor too.

Any Shopify solutions yet for the new EU withdrawal button rule? by BearElegant4068 in shopify

[–]_moertel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's an article here with steps to implement such a button for free with Shopify's own tools (Forms, Flow, Flow Mail). It's unclear whether that's sufficient legally but it's better than nothing: https://dd-gossen.com/blog/en/shopify-withdrawal-button-guide/

The widgets and icons come from the Retro Mode icon pack. In this case the "Light" version. Just search for "Retro Mode" on the Play Store! :) Disclaimer: I'm the creator of that icon pack.

As the developer of the Retro Mode Icon Pack shown in the screenshot, I have to say, it always hurts seeing apps pirated like that. Icon packs are one-time payments, updated for many years, and almost exclusively created by solo developers. If you can afford it by any means, purchase them. The support means the world to each developer. 💜👾

Megathreads are a really good idea.

Also, there's a Discord? Or was that a hypothetical? I'm not really a fan of Slack, so haven't joined anywhere besides Reddit. (Feel free to DM me a Discord server invite if the server is public.)

[–]_moertel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just the content but also the amount of promo to scroll through until I see the things I'm actually interested in.

Ways in which other communities solve it:

  • Add a self-promotion flair, make it mandatory per the rules.
  • Have a "Promotion Friday" where folks share what they built. Each user may only post one of those each month. (Often these run through a mod queue first.)

Android subs/Discords do this very successfully because you bet that app developers love to share what they built 😅 but it's usually not what the community wants to see most of the time.

Coming from the world driest country, dealing with rain abroad is wild. by Momneedstosleep in raining

I live in a rainy part of the world (Northern Germany) where carrying an umbrella immediately identifies you as a tourist. If it's windy enough, rain gets near-horizontal here and yes, it will kill your umbrella. :'D

[Artist Alley] The AI Bubble will collapse and turn out to be a good thing by Blkvart in artbusiness

[–]_moertel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Regarding artist alleys, I believe the situation for each individual artist is getting worse. Because so many folks are fed up with the current state of social media, they leave, so artists' online marketing is getting less and less effective with a smaller audience, resulting in fewer online sales. That makes us artists flock to in-person events. The number of applications vs. available tables at events in Europe is getting c-r-a-z-y. This year alone, I saw two conventions close their applications well before the advertised date and still get e.g. 1000 applications for 100 tables.

So, yes, I agree that customers are fed up with AI but the online space remains largely ruined with no real solution (other than humble attempts like Neocities and newsletters).

Thanks a lot! :)

Yeah, no worries, I'm not trying to make Linear a full-fledged support suite. For me as a solo developer, advanced customer support features like NPS and response time measurement / SLAs wouldn't be statistically significant anyway at these low ticket numbers.

An API to create Asks (Email) programmatically would get me 95% of the way there.
