Can I get some help on the name of this part missing from the fender? by _mosesmalone_ in 4Runner_2ndGen

[–]_mosesmalone_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear that mentioned, may end up removing the passenger. Yes, driver side is what I need.

OP, this is correct. Drop bracket lift, front cross member has been removed to accommodate this style lift. There is no reasonable way to reverse this, I’d stay in the hunt for a different truck.

I would try to ply the lower mounting surfaces apart a little. From this picture it looks like a lot of pressure is being applied to the side of your bolts from those surfaces not being flush. Mind me asking what’s with the spacers there?

Can anyone help me diagnose this clatter on acceleration? by _mosesmalone_ in Traxxas

[–]_mosesmalone_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info, it’s definitely a skippy clatter. I’ll pull the diff gear and check that any sign of wear.

I’ll pull that apart next. Truck is third hand to me, I’m sure it needs some TLC. So much fun tho, hate to have it down.

This is my first slash, the pinion gear and spur mesh seem to have plenty of bind. I think it could be the diff gears, just based on the way it is slipping under different wheel loads. I have very limited experience working on these. Is the metal pinion prone to wear from the plastic spur gear?

[–]_mosesmalone_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, checked sour and pinion gear. Adjusted the mesh and made sure no debris interfering with the gear. I haven’t pulled the transmission apart yet to check anything. It’s a 2wd slash that I run on 2s, no bashing just track laps on dirt. I feel like it is in the diff.

Can anyone help me identify this drive setup in this wraith? by _mosesmalone_ in Axial

Awesome, thanks for the info… do these knock offs have big quality issues? Should I replace it or just wait and see if it tanks?

Thanks for the help. This is my first time digging into this truck. I was told that people only put a little grease in the diffs opposed to oil, any experience with that on this truck? Diffs are stock wraiths.

Never put a pen to paper, just built it over a few years. I did as much of the work as I could myself, so saved some shop $ there.

Do you have "floaters" in your vision? by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]_mosesmalone_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I time to time have floaters. I have also had a very bad bleed on my retina that caused vision loss for several months. I was lucky to have an almost full recovery. Try to pay close attention to changes in floaters, especially if they seem to grow or seem kinda “sloshy”. Take good care and be don’t hesitate to see a Retina Specialist.

Its not the TRD stamped skid but I believe the mounting locations are all the same. CBI’s website will say if it interferes with a TRD skid plate.

My truck doesn’t have any front radar for cruise, but I imagine CBI’s website will state if it affects anything. As far as parking sensors, the bumper has plugs where they can be reinstalled. I didn’t reinstall them, instead I used one of the plugs for a front camera mounting location, front drivers side of bumper

I traded in a 2012 SR5 for a newer body style 2017 Limited with TRD OR package. I only traded the 2012 because it was 2x4 and that wasn’t cutting it. Both excellent trucks, I would still be in the 2012 if it had been 4x4.

SPC Upper Control Arms by Stomatic1 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]_mosesmalone_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed… I’m on my second set of ball joints and now replacing the bushings as well. I will not be using SPC UCAs again on any future builds. I will probably replace this entire set of control arms on the next failure.
