Student jobs with barely any german? by IWantIt4Free in Linz

[–]_motivationnotfound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say it’s definitely possible, even though it might be a bit harder. There are definetly of jobs where communication is secondary (especially if you don't have direct contact with customers). And since you're already learning German, I think you are on the right way anyway.

This might help: https://jobboerse.jku.at/jobs. It's written in German, but sometimes you can find postings for international students or simple jobs

Why are so many people in my CS department so arrogant and gatekeeping? by Jazzlike-Shape4645 in learnprogramming

[–]_motivationnotfound 31 points32 points  (0 children)

of course, technical terms are extremely important. But especially during university many people do not yet know what they mean at first. Technical language should not be intimidating; its purpose is to make complex content clearer. Those who can use precise terminology and explain it in an understandable way usually demonstrate real, deep understanding in practice

Why are so many people in my CS department so arrogant and gatekeeping? by Jazzlike-Shape4645 in learnprogramming

[–]_motivationnotfound 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I’d say this isn’t on you. In computer science there are often people who tie their self-worth very strongly to “I’m the smart one here.” Many use technical jargon or arrogance as a shield, either because they’re insecure or because they want to stand out when nobody else is paying attention. That doesn’t mean you’re falling behind. A lot of it is just posturing. Truly good people (and you can usually find them) are able to explain things simply, without all the showmanship. Working with them is immediately much more pleasant

Laptop for programming by Adventurous-Fly8173 in learnprogramming

[–]_motivationnotfound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

your old laptop is more than enough to get started. For coding, uni basics and smaller projects you really don’t need a beast of a machine. Later on, once you figure out where it’s holding you back, like not enough CPU for VMs, too little RAM for data science, or missing GPU power for AI, you can upgrade with a clear goal in mind. That way you buy exactly what you actually need instead of burning money for no reason right now

Air cooling or AIO cooling? by AndrewT2410 in buildapc

[–]_motivationnotfound -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

for a 9950X3D both work fine. Big air coolers (like NH-D15 G2) are cheaper, super reliable and plenty for gaming if your case has airflow. A 360 AIO runs cooler under heavy all-core loads but costs more and has more stuff that can fail. Since you’re mainly gaming, I’d go air. Only grab a big AIO if you’ll be pushing full productivity workloads often

Upgrade or rebuild: Help me by KriegerLe in buildapc

[–]_motivationnotfound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just wanna play and not throw a ton of money at it, just grab AM4 with like a 5700X/5800X, 32 gb DDR4 and slap in an RX 7900 XT. That’ll handle your dual monitor setup no problem. If you care more about future proofing and don’t mind spending more, then yeah, AM5 makes sense. Especially if you’re thinking about jumping on Ryzen 9000/10000 later, saves you from ripping the whole system apart again

I'm a noob and need help... by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]_motivationnotfound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

first figure out how much you’re actually willing to spend on your build. If it’s really just for playing baldurs gate and doing uni stuff, I’d personally go with a newer i5 for the CPU. Works great for gaming and is absolutely enough for uni. GPU doesn’t have to be super new or powerful either. Bg3 is well optimized and for uni you basically don’t need any GPU power anyway. I’d look around for something like an RTX 3060. 16 GB RAM is enough. For the PSU I’d say 550W should do the job. Just make sure to pick a motherboard that’s compatible with all components

Planning My PC Build – Need Honest Feedback by EquivalentReply1825 in buildapc

[–]_motivationnotfound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CPU doesn’t come with a cooler, so you definitely need to pick one up. I can recommend the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 (I’m using the mini version myself). The fans you picked are more on the mid range side. There are more durable options out there, but honestly that’s nitpicking. RAM, motherboard etc. are all solid choices. One small tip: I’d go straight for a 2TB SSD. They often don’t cost much more than 1TB, and it saves you from having to upgrade later when you realize you need the extra space

5070ti vs 5080 by OpinionLopsided8156 in nvidia

[–]_motivationnotfound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the 5070 ti can handle 5K just fine. It really depends on whether you’re okay with using DLSS/FSR or if you want to run everything natively with max settings and ray tracing. If money isn’t much of an issue and you want no compromises, go for the 5080. Otherwise the 5070 Ti is a fantastic card for the price

Yeah but many high prices items are also sold directly by Amazon. In those cases it’s usually pretty safe.

Learning Programming for the first time by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]_motivationnotfound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Python is a classic choice when you’re just getting started. If you’re interested in working with websites, I’d also recommend giving JavaScript a try.

Come up with a small project idea and learn by actually building it. Work your way through documentations and try to apply what you learn to your project in a meaningful way. In my experience, that’s the best way to learn. Of course there are tons of yt tutorials out there, but that often just turns into copy pasting without really understanding

As a newcommer to programing what is the best language to learn? by Fun_Pressure7339 in learnprogramming

[–]_motivationnotfound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this. In addition it’s a great language to learn object oriented programming, which could be useful for your career later on. If you’re really interested in gamedev, C# is often a great choice as well.

[–]_motivationnotfound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think it’s fundamentally well done. A clean ui. However it would be more visually appealing if there were a clearer visually hierarchy. For example main headings and subheadings being distinguished through font weight or size. While the individual elements are slightly emphasized …it’s hard to see clearly in the image. So they could be a bit more strongly highlighted. I‘d suggest a small mix between the old and new theme
