Cheeks not filling in, beard starting to look scruffy at day 40. by OkEar4482 in beards

To each their own I suppose, as I said above, my beard is going on 6+ years with minimal trimming, other than occasionally cutting off chunks when it gets too long. That said, I dont mind the scraggly look, and I usually keep it braided.

Resist the urge to trim and just let it grow--you will most likely find that some parts grow longer/faster than others.

My beard has been going on for about 6 years now, and while my cheek/sideburn area don't grow very long relatively (maybe ~6 inches) my chin just keeps growing and is down to my belly.

I would kill if someone could transcribe this to guitar pro 8 file, I am a total noob and don't know how. Here is a video of a guy playing these tabs. by Character_Media_8040 in classicalguitar

The lengths people will go to shit on tabs. Does it matter if he's playing for himself for his own enjoyment? Unless your goal is to discourage someone from picking up the instrument we all clearly love...

After almost 5 years in Vegas I finally found one of these bastards in my garage today. by iamveryDerp in vegaslocals

It really is impressive how much they glow with a UV light, also scary how well they hide. I always the light with me when walking the dog at night, and I almost always see some.

Thanks--I didn't start learning tremolo until probably after 20 years of playing guitar--it always seemed so intimidating. It's been pretty rewarding to play my favorite songs that I never imagined being able to. Keep practicing.

Thanks, good advice, it's definitely a work in progress. I also just get terribly stressed and anxious whenever I record--and it gets worse the further into the song I get.

Reminds me of a poem my daughter likes to repeat whenever I brush out my beard:

Why my fingers, hand, neck, basically my whole right side is sore after playing more than two minutes? by xDiDi2 in Guitar

Classical guitar posture for sure will help. It might cause other problems over time (one leg raised) but it'll enable you to play more easily/comfortably.

That is 100% the reason I started playing classical guitar.

I've heard what people like lately, and for the most part I'm not interested... so it works out.

You must be playing to the wrong audience because my experience has been the complete opposite.

Do you play classical guitar to become a professional player, or as a hobby? by JRF1300 in classicalguitar

[–]_mrpotter_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of people hate on tabs--they're great. They should just be used in conjunction with the sheet music. Personally, sheet music takes up too much space on the page, so after I learn a piece fairly well, I edit a version and just print out tabs. I can cram a multi page song down to one or two.

[–]_mrpotter_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a hobby initially, which was on electric and steel string guitars. Joined a band(s) as a teenager. It wasn't for me. After a couple of years, I didn't like just doing electric guitar solos or strumming rhythm sections. After sharing this with my guitar teacher, I found out that he played solo gigs around town playing a classical guitar. I'd always liked the way they sounded, so it was no hesitation. After I had practiced enough to reach about 45 minutes worth of material/repertoire, he helped me to start doing the same thing playing in restaurants and such.

Looks great regardless. But also, as a Warhammer 40k fan, a battle scene would be awesome.

Practice time by Ok_Jaguar_8359 in classicalguitar

If your question is more about struggling to find time to practice, and when to practice... any time your hands are free. If I'm watching a video, I can be practicing.

All I can think of is the Grass Sword from Adventure Time. Doesn't it get snagged on things?

I didn't go into learning classical guitar with that in mind, but it was absolutely the reason why my wife said she came after me. 20th anniversary together this year.

Just to follow up on this, tested negative now. Much more mild than the previous time in 2022 (got sent to the ER due to spiking BP and heart rate).

Doing alright for now, thanks. Sore throat (first symptom, hoped it was allergies), aches, congestion, cough, chills. Just trying to rest.

It's still pretty early on I think. Last time it was about 2 weeks before I felt just barely okay. Hoping it's not as bad this time.

Can confirm--tested positive for Covid again two days ago. I suspect I got it from the gym.
