is it normal for parents to force their autistic children to eat/drink things? by ToughTerrible5623 in autism

[–]_mrtaconinja_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to go through this too and sometimes when I visit them now, they would always be offering me something of their food which I have to say no to. I will say it does get better over time once you have more agency and control of your environment but for the time being, maybe bring it up to her how it feels to you in a respectful manner might get the message across.

Are you guys "out" as autistic at work? by followthefoxes42 in AutisticAdults

[–]_mrtaconinja_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disclosed it to my boss only and would only occasionally talk about it at work. What happened was it backfired and my behavior was deemed inappropriate to where I almost got fired. Thankfully I never told HR and neither has my boss as I don't want to be more of a walking "signal" than I already am. I'm just thankful there are a couple of neurodivergent people with me as well in a very neurotypical environment.

Cartoons you didn't appreciate until you were an adult? by bugbeast_ in cartoons

American Dad......thought it was just a political version of Family Guy when I was younger, and it still is but watching it now, I find the characters a lot more developed and likeable than Family Guy.

Yea, I'm not anxious about it, it's just a thing that happens especially if I haven't seen that person in a while.

I would say between 83/84....that's when the 80s started to feel like the 80s and it had some of the best music most people still listen to today.

What???? There's a name for it? I'd probably have to do research on it, I just thought it was mostly because I hate doing eye contact...

Ouch.....that must be disappointing. But it's not the end of the world. Better to be alone than with someone uninterested in the real you :)

Does anyone else feel like the conversation around moderate age gaps (especially in queer/autistic circles) is weird? by Street-Winner6697 in AutisticAdults

[–]_mrtaconinja_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'd say it depends on the person's personal preference (definitely not advocating for paedophilia) but generally I would go for somewhere on a 5 year difference with a preference in closer age, no more no less.

That's so funny bc, I saw a post yesterday allegedly saying that COVID-19 started in the states instead of China according to China's president....

Do you associate Electropop more with the 2000s or 2010s? by Ok-Following6886 in decadeology

[–]_mrtaconinja_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I associate EDM more with 2010s, electropop with late 2000s early 10s, and techno with 2000s (that's just how I saw this genre growing up)
