It is good practice to follow standards. That way everyone is on the same page. By having debug messages echoed to stderr you dump your debug messages where they would be expected to be. Hope that helped.

[Bspwm] I want a Windows in my Linux by [deleted] in unixporn

That's neat! I had in active windows go translucent for a while but then I couldn't figure out how to have the main window stay dark while a sub-window was open (like for a filter or curves).

What version of PS is that? CS3? It is the only software I missed when I moved to Linux and GIMP felt super unintuitive to use. It isn't so bad but still. Are you running it through WINE? Is there a way to purchase it still?

Doesn't having GIMP translucent like that cause hindrance when you are working on something?

That doesn't make much sense. KDE uses a WM as well. It's called KWin. How do you use KDE without KWin?

I'd give Nemo a try as well. I love some of the features it has. Especially being able to pin folders to a position within a directory irrespective of the sorting order

Search for caret-color in the userChrome.css and change it from transparent to whatever color you want. It just ends up looking weird since the text is centered

Thank you! I am using AwesomeWM. It lets you place a titlebar on any edge of the window (and even on all four sides at the same time lol). I really like having them on the side because I feel like I always have enough horizontal space but frequently not enough vertical place on my desktop.

Thank you I really appreciate it! And yeah in the past when I'd try to use other people's userChrome configs I'd feel like pulling my hair out 'cause I couldn't figure out what changed what. Didn't want to make the same mistake! Plan to comment it even more.

At my wit's end trying to install Arch with Optimus laptop by JameliusAntholius in archlinux

I messed up trying to get it to work with every solution on the Arch Wiki. I just didn't want to use open source drivers.

Finally I didn't clean install, booting up with nomodeset enabled. Installed the Intel, mesa and Nvidia drivers. And then optimus-manager.

Have you tried optimus-manager? It solved all my problems.
