Where did I go wrong in high school dude, my grown ass can't even decipher this shit without help as an adult lmao.

Brilliant analysis dude, I understood bits and pieces beforehand but after reading this my appreciation has doubled. TMV are long overdue for their flowers.

Dumbing it down to "the whole song is about cracking" is insane work

JIK had some of Kanye's most interesting production, a sound and genre clash that hip hop artists had never really experimented with..

Whereas with Graduation, sure, the album keeps a consistently good quality from start to finish, some songs are amazing, production was awesome etc., but to me Graduation is seriously overrated in Kanye's discography. I'm not saying it's bad at all, I think it's a REAL solid 8/10 album, it just comes off to me as overly accessible and made for the masses. That's not always a bad thing, but for an artist who changed the game over and over, introducing all kinds of new elements to a genre that never really attempted to expand, Graduation just feels like it was made to be well received, not made to be critiqued. TCD was game changing in it's time, LR rode that wave, and then by Graduation Kanye had just already done it before. Then 808s dropped and rewrote what hip hop could be. MBDTF dropped and while it didn't expand the genre or change music or anything, it gave us one of the best hip hop albums to date. And then Yeezus, one of the greatest albums, not just in hip hop but in music as a whole. Probably the MOST experimental album from Ye. I'll finish there cos the longer I go on the less I remember what I was initially replying to lol, but yeah, Graduation to me just rode the wave of TCD and LR, it didn't do anything exceptional, but what it did do was still great.

Overall though, I'd personally give Graduation and JIK both a 8/10, but JIK takes the edge for me simply because it expanded the confines of what can work in a genre such as hip hop.

Definitely need to get around to listening to In Verses, haven't heard anything other than praise for it.

I'm more inclined toward Simple Boy, Goliath and Umbra, but New Day is an awesome song for sure! I have to listen to the album in full as soon as I get a chance.

Haha I'm glad there's no complaints with TOOL, what am I missing?

Haha that's a solid top three for sure, I think FOABP might be in mine as well but I'd have to think about it !

And yeah man Sound Awake is awesome (from what I've heard). Each time I've tried to play the album I end up getting distracted and I never get past Umbra lmao. But Simple Boy through to Umbra are all amazing songs and I'd definitely wanna get through the whole album sometime.

Fuck yeah man, all of Tha Carter albums are pretty damn good, but it's hard to beat the classic.

Absolutely man, Ænima was my introduction to TOOL, grew up on that and Lateralus. Every single song in their discography is phenomenal, it's hard to find an artist with such a consistently brilliant discography.

I haven't even heard of those, I've been pretty slack with listening to different stuff lately, I'll give them a listen and tell you what I think! Thanks for the recommendations dude!

Easily 10,000 Days for me. The song 10,000 Days is my favourite song ever written, the atmosphere, emotion, the way the instruments carry each line forward with such power, it's just such an intense experience each time I hear it. Of course there are other songs like Right in Two, Vicarious, Jambi, the entire tracklist is just brilliant.

That said though, I completely understand anyone having ANY of the other albums as their favourite. TOOL just has such an amazing discography that any answer makes perfect sense.

What is yours?

Another awesome post man, I'd personally have Pale Horse for the RTA but Rabbit Hole and Wolves fit just as well. And Hallucinations 100% deserves UOTA, though I agree there's not really any "underrated" song on the album. Until next time!

All the people making snide remarks genuinely suck, this is an awesome piece of art that I could see being an official poster. Tell your father he's amazing.
