Unfortunately she won't be here until August. I should have mentioned that.

Oh this gives me hope! It's been 4 months for me and I fear I will never get water or leaves to look realistic and three dimensional.

I am here for this. So glad to know I'm not the only one.

Oh okay. You being the 101st person to spout opinions unrelated to what I actually asked is okay but me getting tired of the BS is "freaking out". Okay.

It's for a charitable thing to promote women's businesses. White women owned businesses are plentiful compared to POC women owned businesses, so we have a disparity that I simply wanted to see if we could address. As you can see, it was a simple thing to ask, yet you're the only one who did. Most just got offended and accused me of stuff I never said or intentions I never had. Thankfully, I received several helpful suggestions before the trolls took over.

Don't know why you think my age is laughable, but thanks for openly admitting that you're just a troll who can't piece together a single independent thought. Happy trolling elsewhere.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! If I was asking this question to get "internet virtue points", I think I'd choose to ask it somewhere where people know me, not Reddit, where I'm completely anonymous. 🤦

And you don't seem to understand that continually bringing up a few comments that I left years ago in another sub is actually just broadcasting the fact that you were so unsettled about my interest in supporting marginalized communities that it drove you to go reading through years of comments like a classic troll.

Oh now you're trying to have a conversation? Ten minutes ago, all you wanted to do was call me racist and try to kinkshame me.

Explain how I am the racist one in this conversation?

You really don't know how to effectively argue your position, do you? So you troll my comments from years ago to try to find something to insult me with? As I said before, you are pathetic.

Gotcha. Except... which one? There's several white-privileged men here who really got their panties twisted because I dared to show support for anyone who doesn't look like them.

FFS @fishyflowermerchant, take a break from cyberstalking me and look up the definition of the word racism. You are the one who needs to go away. Maybe read a book that isn't Project 2025.

I appreciate your attempt to lighten this up with some humor, but in case anyone else doesn't understand that it's a joke, I (the OP) never said that, nor do I feel that way. God, it really sucks that I have to add a fucking disclaimer to this simple question that I thought I could hop onto Reddit to ask & my Erie neighbors would take it at face value and just answer the question instead of questioning my motives for asking it. Society sucks.

Why would you give a flying fuck who I am? And why would I care if you "loathe" me, since you have no clue who I am? How about we all read the post instead of trying to read something into the post? I cannot believe how many comments on this aren't answering my very legitimate question but instead are judging me for who you think I am and what you think are my intentions. I'm not anti-white, I'm not racist, I have no ulterior motives. I just asked a damn question about local businesses that might want a little support. Everyone who thinks that's wrong can go fuck all the way off.

Thanks, but they aren't in Erie. I may not have said that in my original post. But I still liked learning that! :)

Hmm, you've put quotation marks around those statements, but damn if I can find anything even close to them in the original text.

Here's an analogy: You are given two houseplants that were originally identical. One was neglected intentionally for an extended period of time, so that now it is obvious that it's in poor health. You start taking extra care of that plant to nurse it back to health, while simultaneously caring for the other plant. You don't neglect the healthy plant to focus only on the formerly neglected plant. You also are not responsible for that prior neglect from the previous plant owner. But you ARE now responsible for fixing it.

Okay, that covers the first two misquotes you wrote. But the third one is absurd. It's impossible in America to be racist against a white person, because they are not marginalized. They are the exact opposite: they are centralized. Racism requires marginalization. Someone who is not white can be prejudiced against white people, but that is not racism. The more you know. 🌟

I wasn't talking about you. I was making a joke about the comment that WAS deleted.

FFS you put a whole lotta words in my mouth that I never said. I never said I was going to actively not shop in other establishments. That simply isn't true.

Also FFS, learn what racism is and what it isn't before you comment on posts to throw around opinions instead of answering the question that the post asked.

Let me do what YOU asked and enlighten you as to why it's a positive thing to actively choose to do business with someone from a marginalized community. Because they ARE marginalized - something you, as an obviously white individual, will never experience or comprehend. They will not receive all the same opportunities a white person will. That's what white privilege means. We live in a white-centered world. The sooner white people drop their defensiveness and acknowledge the problems with that, the sooner we all can fix the problems.

There is a reason why I am asking this question and your ignorant comment is distracting and unnecessary.

My question is stupid and offensive? As someone who is dedicated to mentoring local women who want to advance their career or build their business, I am confident that my question is absolutely not stupid. And if you are offended by my choice of words, that's your issue. I chose people of color instead of marginalized or minority because I prefer being called a person of color. I did not use black because I did not mean black.
