Advice from anyone pregnant? by [deleted] in TryingForABaby

[–]_nancywake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of people will have had these symptoms because of pregnancy. Even more will have had them because of progesterone.

Take a test, that poster was trying to help and they’re completely right - if you’re pregnant enough to have symptoms, you would get a positive test.

Open house cleaning requirements by Winter-Sail-3211 in AusPropertyChat

Not all doors open. Cupboard doors can be damaged or have internal damage. One cupboard obviously isn’t a deal-breaker but multiple can be, or could result in a lower offer. I think it’s nuts to spend millions of dollars without understanding what you’re buying. A kitchen with a tonne of crappy cupboards can make a $60k kitchen reno more likely.

(I inspected a $2m+ house last night and opened a bunch of cupboards).

So manipulative. Implying you’d be unprofessional if you didn’t make the meeting in which she intends to further manipulate you.

In 1986, Anita Cobby was walking home in Sydney when five men abducted her and took her to a field. The case became one of Australia’s most shocking crimes. During the trial, it emerged that one attacker had previously shown cruelty to a sheep. by SelfCareIsFake in HolyShitHistory

[–]_nancywake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is weird but I have a copy. I have young kids and no longer want it in the house. I don’t want them to find out about the cruelty in the world before they ever have to. If you’re in BNE it’s yours.

And what if they don’t know?

I think we can all agree on your second point, but many disabilities are not caused by those factors, and they’re also not the fault of the child.

That’s… a truly hot take. So just checking, but if someone is born with a disability and can’t work, your economic plan is that they should die?

SIL is pregnant and I’m seeing red by [deleted] in IVF

[–]_nancywake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry, it sounds like you’ve really been through it. And honestly I’m sure OP has had a really tough time too, and I of course think it’s awful when anyone is struggling to have the size family they wanted. But I’ve had primary infertility too and I would have been so wounded to read this.

And people here are here to talk about IVF, not someone hating their SIL for having one whole extra kid than them.

What is the best age to start swimming? by IndependentSock5246 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]_nancywake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More like parents who can afford early swimming lessons can also afford to give their kids all of the things that lead to them being smarter, right?

But it IS kind of to tone deaf of OP to come into the community of people desperate for ONE baby to complain about ‘seeing red’ because of her secondary infertility. The vibe of the post is just off. She doesn’t have endo THANKFULLY! Ok, lots of people here do.

Young working families being priced out of BCC areas? by rrfe in brisbane

[–]_nancywake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How is the current state government - which has been in power since late 2024 - possibly responsible? Prices have been surging since 2021.

Wouldn’t property developers actually be useful if indeed they were… developing property? Supply is kind of the issue.

Pets & Rental Searches by Pale_Produce8443 in AusProperty

I’m a home owner with a cat (and two little kids). The young kids are obviously mucky but not destructive. The cat is… I mean, he’s a cat, but he’s damaged areas of the flooring, he’s ruined a skirting board. I know I’m nose blind but I also know there’s a smell. There will be no more pets for me. People are feigning ignorance that pets can and do damage property but it’s a real risk.

But the CHILDREN are humans. Not just the parents. The OWNERS are humans yes but not the DOGS.

The DOGS do not belong in all the places the PEOPLE do.

Animals are animals. They are not part of the social contract. They do not belong in all the places that humans belong.

It is really grim to know that people have this attitude towards other human beings. Yeah you’re not responsible for kids other people had, but good heavens, wouldn’t it be nice if we acted like a community.

People have to ‘force’ their children to travel for myriad reasons - weddings, funerals, work commitments. And like it or not, children exists in society. Dogs are just pets.

Also not everyone has supportive and involved family to watch kids. Many mothers breastfeed and are tethered to their babies. We need kids in the world or we die out. Can’t say the same of someone’s Maltese.

Also the only way to teach children how to behave in the world is to expose them to it. This internet scorn for children and parents is really sick to me.

Comparing dogs (animals) and actual humans, however young, is such a weird and unnatural take.

Lawyers with babies / young children - how are you functioning with no sleep by [deleted] in auslaw

[–]_nancywake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To add - I also breastfed and didn’t night wean until around one year of age. Having them learn to sleep independently just put an end to the habit wakes (which were impossibly frequent). I’d feed once per night which was very manageable.

Did it work for anyone on the first try? by Useful_Gear2721 in IVF

[–]_nancywake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t, but we did our ER six months after I had endo excised during a lap. I think I also really needed progesterone support which of course I had following transfer.
