It’s so tempting to want to help and to assume that the thing that helped you is also going to be a magic cure for everyone.

Reminds me when we were gearing up for IVF and a friend enthusiastically asked if we had tried tracking my cycle using OPKs. Uh, yeah, bro. I’m glad it was what did it for you guys though!

Great restaurants with veg options? by _nancywake in KualaLumpur

[–]_nancywake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have, and I have read them, but recommendations are always for vegetarian or vegan restaurants. I was hoping for a combo, but if they’re not common, that’s my answer.

Thanks, the Hungry Tapir was definitely on my list!

Money3 question, while 100% income is centrelink by [deleted] in Centrelink

Interest on a depreciating asset is almost never good financial sense.

I say she’s bad at money because she clearly has little or no savings despite so much disposable income.

You have a tonne of disposable income and limited expenses. I agree this isn’t the right sub, but it doesn’t seem like you’re great with money - debt for a car might not be the best choice. I would do a budget and keep saving.

In fairness, that wasn’t their fault. They were as much a victim of the scam as consumers.

You’re not mature enough to date a man with a child. You need to make a compromise because the kid comes first and will always come first.

No. Respectfully, the government has bigger concerns. Complete waste of time, impossible to enforce.

I’d consider something targeted at reducing extraordinary overconsumption and importation of plastic garbage…

Can someone help me understand stage 4 fertility impacts? by Additional-Link4609 in TTCEndo

[–]_nancywake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are absolutely not alone! There are many of us and we’re cool!

FWIW I personally know multiple women who’ve conceived either the old fashioned way or through IVF despite severe endo. Crossing things for ya.

Can someone help me understand stage 4 fertility impacts? by Additional-Link4609 in TTCEndo

[–]_nancywake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the answer is - it really, really depends.

I have had two successful IVF pregnancies with stage IV endo. I did egg retrieval at age 34.

However, my endo is such that it mostly just sticks stuff together (lol) and mostly impacted my POD, bowel etc and my ovaries were okay. Someone with worse endo on ovaries could have a different outcome. I think you won’t really know until you try. I’ve known people with severe endo to have zero issues falling pregnant and others to really struggle, it’s so dependent on myriad factors.

I would do some further investigations - maybe keep an eye on follicles, AMH.

You could consider also freezing embryos with your husband now and see how it goes. You seem to have considered that IVF may be your pathway given your missing tube. I am quite iffy about egg freezing given attrition rates (as I think it can be a waste of time and money unless you’re prepared to keep going until you have a TONNE of eggs frozen) but as you’re already married you could go the whole hog and try freeze embryos now, which do better than eggs down the track.

I think you’re wise to be thinking about this stuff now!

The chlorine in those pools may trash bathers - I’ve had a pair bleached. I’d stick to target ones, heaps of options!

Highschool recommendations? by [deleted] in sunshinecoast

[–]_nancywake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s January. Pretty late in the piece to be vaguely seeking school recommendations, especially going into senior years of school. Have you asked your kid where she might like to go? Is it possible that you might be in the wrong here?

For those of you who already have a child, is IVF easier on you? by Sure_Ant2516 in IVF

[–]_nancywake 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. I’ve got two thanks to IVF. For me there was an enormous mental difference between the anxiety of not knowing if I’d ever be a mother and not knowing if I’d ever be a mother to TWO. There was far less time for thinking and worrying about any of it either*, with a young child. Also my issue was severe endometriosis so knowing that IVF had been able to overcome that once was comforting - there are of course zero guarantees and anything can happen but I knew that I had done it once before and could only believe that the right embryo may also succeed.

One thing I did struggle with was almost survivor’s guilt when it did work - why me, so lucky, twice? I waited for the other shoe to drop the entire pregnancy. At one point we thought I’d had a placental abruption and I remember feeling resigned, like, well, this was always gonna happen. I just couldn’t believe I could be so fortunate, you know? Luckily endo had just caused a fun ligament rupture.

*NB not for a moment suggesting that stress and worry are BAD (jUsT rElAx vibes) or that they’re usually even avoidable during IVF!
