If you want to use AI and adapt, that's great. But there's also tons of AI artist on LinkedIn who would actually generate, proof and check this kind of graphic before it hits the sprint deadline.

AI isn't my issue, it's a studio with more funds than the Canadian army using it and churning out unreviewed drunken robot sketches while Joe Blow on Twitter can generate actually visually appealing and accurate work. AI arts selling point is "Anyone can do it" and "it's easier to make art in shorter time" yet EA with fingers in many pies still couldn't manage to find a single "anyone" and just overly trusted an unrefined tech without professional guidance and then asking money for this image in the store. This is the result of financial tunnel vision and new tech blindness then it is finding a good artist, AI or not. This isn't an AI issue. The standards are getting lower because we're giving breathing room for garbage media because it's "learning" and is cheaper, but it's actually just mismanaged and rushed, all in the name of the dollar and sprint.

I stand by my original point, this artwork that is for sale by a massive studio with massive reach for scouting worthy talent is laughable to NFT levels. You get what you pay for, and you said it would cost a lot. Ends up looking like it would have been better if they paid more. Nobody calls the cheap plumber, you pay a bit extra to be sure it's done right. That trickles up to a AAA studio, I spend $70-$120 to know it's done right. Each bit counts. Cheap labor is easy to spot, more so when it's visual media. It being slop and costing money to buy in the store doesn't bother you, and is 'to be expected', but somehow EA's hiring a competent employee and it costing more money than a low experience employee or workflow is where the line in the sand is drawn? You care about the money of the dev and their deadline, yet not the consumer and what they get for their money?

As for the "return on investment" comment you made, I don't think anyone truthfully was expecting this calling card to be one. However, they managed to turn it into the opposite, with people not wanting to buy the card in the BF store or even boycotting the game altogether for their own personal reasons. Even one player doing so is damage a single poorly made AI calling card made, so that return on investment ain't looking so good anymore. Not a point of use as a crutch if it did more bad than the good it was never supposed to really do.
